Class 2026, Tight End, Gabriel Menard, Berchmans Academy High School.

College coaches are always looking for tall kids with a good frame with weight to add for college, and today we will talk about a kid who fits that mold. Gabriel Menard with Berchmans Academy, a Class 2026 Tight End for college, stands 6-6 in height and close to 220 pounds. Berchmans Academy is an all-boys Catholic school with a new football program located south of Opelousas on Interstate 49 in a town called Grand Coteau, Louisiana, in St. Landry Parish.

Gabriel Menard, called Gabe by friends and family, also plays Defensive End for the team. He is a 3-sport Athlete in 2025 will also play Baseball and Basketball for his high school. I think once he gets more weight on in another year in college and bulks up to 240 to 250 pounds he will look the part of a major big time player and right now he has a lot to work with because he is Athletic and will just keep growing in college with a lot of upside in the end to be 6-6 265 pounds with good feet. If he goes to a small college, he would get the time to develop and not be rushed into action like at a bigger school. I’ve seen many kids with this type of frame also become Offensive Lineman in college, weighing 300 pounds with good feet playing Tackle, if not Tight End, in the end for college.

Gabe has quickly established himself as a vital part of our program. He’s an outstanding teammate who consistently puts the team first and leads by example every day. His work ethic sets the tone for those around him, and his commitment to improving never wavers. Even with this being only his 3rd year playing football, he’s made tremendous strides in both skill and confidence. We’re excited to see his continued growth and the impact he’ll have as he moves on to the next chapter in his career said Head Football Coach Berchmans Academy Tyler Bourque.”

Quotes below from Gabriel Menard Berchmans Academy.

“The recruiting process hasn’t been easy. Going to a smaller school makes it more difficult to get seen. This year was the 1st year I was able to make it to any camps, where I got a lot of attention. That was the 1st time I felt that I could actually make it somewhere. Ever since I was little, I wanted to play the game of football. I play Basketball and Baseball more for fun.

Being a part of Berchmans is very special! Seeing the growth of my peers and myself is incomparable to anything else. It has been such a rewarding experience for me to be a trailblazer for the football program, and I know it can be great.

I can’t wait to see what Head Coach Tyler Bourque continues to do with the program. I’ve been with Berchmans Academy since the beginning with the coach, and it’s taken a lot of hard work to be where we are now. I started playing football my Soph year in high school. I was always interested and watched, but never played. Coach Tyler Bourque has helped me develop into the kind of player and leader I am now, so I'm thankful for him.

I’ve always liked UL Ragin Cajuns growing up as a kid, as far as colleges go. My mom and both my grandparents went to UL.”
