Recruiting Spotlight: Jeremiah Smith, DB, Glen Oaks High School, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Defensive back Jeremiah Smith of Glen Oaks High School is an athletic prospect in Louisiana’s Class of 2027. Standing at 5’11’’ and weighing 173 pounds, Smith has what it takes to make an impact at the next level.
Smith recorded 15 tackles at defensive back last season. If he has a good senior season, Smith could get coaches’ attention fast. Smith was also a member of the track team, where he ran 22.8 seconds in the 200m and 15.2 in the hurdles.
According to Lee Brecheen, Smith has the skills to play football at the next level.
“He’s a sleeper recruit who has the skillset and athleticism to become a really good player. He should impress some college coaches this year,” said Brecheen.
In the classroom, Smith maintains a 2.8 GPA, and he scored an 18 on the ACT, showing a strong commitment to his academics as well as his athletics. He also wants to major in business once he gets to college.
Smith spoke on what playing for Glen Oaks High School and his coaches have done for him.
“Playing for my school has taught me how to compete, stay disciplined, and keep working even when things get difficult. I’m grateful for my coaches because they push me to become a better athlete and a better person every day,” said Smith.
Smith doesn’t hold any offers currently, and he isn’t talking to any coaches. He attended seven camps this summer. When it comes to other athletes in Smith’s family, his father ran track at McNeese State University.
