Spotlight Recruit: Thomas Henslee – North Vermilion High School,

Class of 2027, North Vermilion High School, Maurice, LA

Football at North Vermilion High School is no cakewalk from week to week. The program consistently faces off against high-caliber opponents, which requires strength, discipline, and mental fortitude from its players. Defensive lineman Thomas Henslee is among the young athletes who have adapted to this environment.

“Playing for North Vermilion is tough. We play very good teams. Coach Moy is also very tough on us players because he wants us to be ready.”

Henslee plays both Defensive End and Defensive Tackle, taking full advantage of his physical characteristics as a strong but agile 5’10”, 236 lbs player. He earned national honors inside the Top 200 at his position last season, all while competing against quality opponents week in and week out.

Henslee’s number one strength is his commitment to strength training and physical development. He is on the school’s powerlifting team, and his dedication is already paying off. He finished 2nd at Invitationals this year and has earned a spot at Regionals, which helps translate his in-season strength to the field through his lower-body power and leverage.

As of now, Henslee does not hold any scholarship offers, and he is not currently in discussion with any college coaches. However, his exposure is starting to build. He has already received an invitation to one summer camp and plans to attend another in Thibodaux, Louisiana in June, where he will look to compete, gain experience, and get in front of coaches showcasing his skills.

Henslee also has sound academic plans for his future. Should he continue his athletic career in college, he intends to study Sports Medicine, allowing him to pursue his passion for athletics while focusing on health-related topics for future professionals like himself.

There is a strong football legacy on his father’s side of the family, with multiple family members playing high school football. On his mother’s side, there is a connection by blood only to a distant cousin who played offensive line at Ole Miss. Even more impressively, however, this family relation also has another family member who played for the Green Bay Packers, allowing him to attend Super Bowl I and Super Bowl II. These connections have afforded Henslee a solid feeling for his heritage and legacy.

As long as he continues to develop himself on and off the field, Thomas Henslee is one young athlete defensive coordinators will not want to miss. With strength, toughness, versatility, and a solid background competing against high-caliber opponents, he has all he needs to become a force on the field.
