Gage Brown
By Lee Brecheen
Class 2026 Defensive Lineman Gage Brown, St. Paul’s High School.
One of the toughest positions to recruit for a college coach every year is Defensive Tackle. Most college coaches at the high level look for Defensive Lineman that first have good feet, 2nd give high effort,3rd can rush the passer at a high level and can run down Running Backs sideline to sideline and has decent height measurables like most DI colleges like the tackles to be at least 6-0 feet in height all the way up to 6-6 and the shorter lineman better have great feet to get signed and most of what I wrote up top. Most Defensive Tackles can’t do most of the categories I mentioned above, or they can do some of those. The kid I will talk about today, I saw play in person, and he did just about everything you look for in a Defensive Tackle, Gage Brown, a Class 2026 from St. Paul’s High School in Covington, Louisiana, who is also between 6-1 and 6-2 in height and weighs 280 pounds. Gage is to me one of the best keepers of DI secrets in Louisiana when it comes to being talked about nationally. He reminds me a little bit of Kyle Williams (Ruston High School/LSU/NFL) when I saw Kyle play in person in High School at Ruston High School. Kyle had that determined demeaner about him, with good feet and could run down running backs’ sideline to sideline, and Brown reminds me of him.
People forget that Robert Peace, Linebacker for Ruston High School, who signed with Tennessee, was the most highly recruited player on that team, along with Jack Hunt (LSU), and Williams became the best player in college and had an NFL career over 12 years.
I think Gage could play the Noseguard or Defensive Tackle spots and be quick enough to play some Defensive End.
Gage Brown does have offers currently from Stephen F.Austin, Nicholls State, and Southeastern, but he is not committed currently. This kid is also very strong in the Weight Room with a Max Bench Press of 335 pounds and a Max Squat of 530 pounds.
His grandpa, Kevin Frye, played Defensive Back in college for 2 years at Mississippi Junior College and 1 year at Southeastern Lions in Hammond, Louisiana. He would like to major in either Kinesiology or Business Management in college.

Quotes from Gage Brown, St. Paul’s High School, below
“I really like Nicholls State U and Southeastern Lions the most and just waiting to see who else might offer by the end of the season.”
“My Position coach is James Tryforos, and he’s taught me a lot, especially how to deal with adversity.”
“Playing football and going to school at St. Paul’s High School creates a brotherhood you don’t see much; we all do everything together as a team.”
“I like to mimic my game play after Byron Murphy, Texas Defensive Tackle in Austin, Mason Graham, U Michigan in Ann Arbor, and former All-Pro in the NFL, Ndamukong Suh, who played many years in the NFL mostly with the Lions.”
“I would like to say thanks to our fans for the support and keep showing out because it’s a great feeling when the stands are full said Gage Brown.”
