Recruiting Spotlight: Brandyn Thompson, Rayville High School, Rayville, Louisiana

Versatile lineman Brandyn Thompson of Rayville High School is a big and imposing prospect in Louisiana’s Class of 2027. Standing at 6’4’’ and weighing 250 pounds, Thompson’s physical traits are what coaches look for at the next level.

Thompson put together an impressive junior season, recording a total of 31 pancake blocks at left tackle, and he also received first-team all-district honors. Thompson had also been starting on varsity since his freshman year.

According to Lee Brecheen, Thompson’s body is still growing, and he will grow into his frame comfortably once he gets to college.

“His coach is high on him, having great feet and a frame once he fills out to be 6’4’’ and 285 pounds. He can run a forty in 4.76 which is one of the best times for a lineman in Louisiana, and he can deadlift 365 pounds,” said Brecheen.

Thompson spoke on the ideas that he keeps with him every day to keep going and to keep pushing for greatness.

“If you are feeling disheartened, that somehow you are not enough, set your heart ablaze… Become the person that everyone wants to be and look up to. I want to be the perfect leader for my team heading into my senior year,” said Thompson.

Thompson currently has one division III offer from Schreiner University. He also has interest from ULL, SFA, Southern Mississippi, McNeese, and Grambling State University.
