RB/LB Kaleb Smith-Hiley of Albany High School is one of the more versatile prospects in Louisiana’s Class of 2027. Standing at 6’0’’ and weighing 210 pounds, Hiley is an underrated prospect who has the tools to play at the next level.

Hiley put together an elite junior season, recording 55 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. Hiley was also recognized for his outstanding play this season. He was invited to play in the Gridiron All-American Bowl Game.

According to Lee Brecheen, Hiley brings so much to his team on offense, defense, and also as a leader.

“Head Coach Travis Mikel told me he’s a very underrated player who excels in the classroom, moves well for his size, and he’s a good leader,” said Brecheen.

In the classroom, Hiley maintains a 3.85 GPA, and he scored a 20 on the ACT, showing a strong commitment to his academics as well. At the next level, Hiley wants to major in Kinesiology, and he wants to pursue the career of an athletic trainer.

Hiley spoke about what it means to play for Albany High School and the community that comes with it.

“Playing for the Albany Hornets is a special kind of feeling, you walk onto the field praised by the entire community. All having confidence that we can take home a win every week,” said Hiley.

Hiley doesn’t have any offers yet, but he went to the Nicholls Mega Camp. He also went to a camp at the University of Arkansas-Monticello. On June 4th, he will be traveling to McNeese to attend their football camp.

Athletics run in the family, as Hiley’s father, Sermaine Smith, played high school football, basketball, and track for Springfield High School.
