Recruiting Spotlight: Cedrick Jones Jr., St. Amant High School, St. Amant, Louisiana

Versatile playmaker Cedrick Jones Jr. is one of the most dynamic athletes in Louisiana’s Class of 2027. Standing 6’3’’ and weighing 180 pounds, Jones contributes as a cornerback and wide receiver, impacting the game on both sides of the ball. 

‍

Jones put together an elite junior season, recording 20 solo tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 14 pass break-ups, one interception that resulted in a win against in-state rival Live Oak, and zero touchdowns allowed. Jones also received an all-district honorable mention for his outstanding season, and he was rewarded by his coaches for never missing a practice.

According to Lee Brecheen, Jones has the physical and mental abilities to make an impact at the next level.

‍

“Tall cornerback with toughness and length to become a DI starter one day,” Brecheen said.

‍

Jones’s physical traits are also impressive, including a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, a 4.5 shuttle, and a 35-inch vertical.

‍

In the classroom, Jones maintains a 3.3 GPA, showing a commitment to his academics, and at the next level, he wants to major in construction engineering. 

‍

Jones spoke about his time at St. Amant and how he is ready for a change, as he will be transferring to East Ascension High School for the following year. 

‍

“I’ve made a lot of friends over the past 3 years and created many memories. I’ll be transferring to East Ascension High School for my senior year. I feel it’s time for a new beginning, new school, new team , and new challenges. I’m ready and excited for what’s to come,” said Jones.

‍

Jones does not have any offers as of right now, but he has had several visits to Tulane, McNeese, Jackson State, Southeastern, and Millsaps. Athletes are also common in his family, as his father played basketball at French Settlement High School.
