Lake Charles College Preparatory quarterback Dylen Vital is an athletic multi-sport athlete in the Louisiana Class of 2027. At 6’3”, 215 pounds, Vital is a pocket passer with above-average athleticism for his size and the ability to play multiple positions.
An injury in his junior year kept Vital off the field, but he made a big impact his sophomore year. In 2024, Vital threw for 2,672 passing yards and 27 touchdowns. His 2,672 yards in a season are a school record; he also holds the record for most touchdowns in a game with six.
Lee Brecheen says Vitals has the size to be a power conference quarterback.
“Vital looks like an SEC quarterback in stature and is a big-time sleeper for college,” Brecheen says. “He has the size to become a college starting quarterback one day. He is also athletic enough to be an outside linebacker or tight end in college.”
Vital says starting as a freshman at Lake Charles College Preparatory helped prepare him for his senior season and beyond.
“Starting freshman year was hard going against tough competition but it helped me because I’m a senior with more experience,” Vital says.
Vital is as talented in the classroom as he is on the field, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. In college, he plans to major in kinesiology to help him pursue coaching after his playing career.
Vital has an offer from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, and has attended camps at Grambling State and the University of Houston. He has also gained interest as a baseball prospect.
Vital, who also plays baseball and throws the javelin, comes from a strong athletic family. His mom, Geri, played both volleyball and basketball in high school, while his dad ran track for Southern University.
