Recruiting Spotlight: Tyler Ritz, St. Thomas More High School, Lafayette, LA

Offensive lineman Tyler Ritz of St. Thomas More Catholic High School is one of the more physically imposing trench prospects in Louisiana’s Class of 2027. Standing 6’4” and weighing 305 pounds, Ritz has become a key piece of the Cougars’ offensive line at right guard.

Ritz put together an impressive season in the trenches, allowing zero sacks in 2025 while earning Second Team All-State honors and First Team All-District recognition. His physicality, technique, and consistency helped establish him as one of the top young interior linemen in his area.

According to Lee Brecheen, Ritz is still underrated nationally despite attracting growing attention from college programs. 

“I was able to meet this kid at the school and do a TV interview,” Brecheen said. “He is getting tons of attention with colleges and is still a sleeper on the national level. He has become a strong kid going into his senior year and a leader.”

Ritz also brings impressive strength numbers to the table, posting a 365-pound bench press, a 505-pound squat, and a 275-pound clean, showcasing the power and work ethic needed to dominate on the offensive line.

Off the field, Ritz carries a strong 3.8 GPA and continues to balance academics with football development.

“Playing for STM is played with intensity and the capability of pushing past your limit and living up to the brotherhood that you’re given,” Ritz said.

While Ritz currently does not hold an offer, he continues to look for the opportunity to prove himself at the next level as recruiting interest continues to build.

Athletics also run in the family, as his father previously played college basketball.

With his size, strength, production, and leadership qualities, Tyler Ritz is a Class of 2027 offensive line prospect who has the tools to continue climbing recruiting boards heading into his senior season.
