Recruiting Spotlight: Trace Wyatt Moreau

Class 2026, Sleeper Recruit, Wide Receiver, Trace Wyatt Moreau, St.Louis High School, Lake Charles.

One of the top sleeper football players in Louisiana, in my scouting opinion, would be Trace Moreau, a Wide Receiver from St.Louis High School in Lake Charles, La.

I had a chance to see multiple games. St. Louis High School and Moreau were always making big-time plays and showing speed with great hands. Moreau is 6-2 in height and close to 180 pounds. This kid has what I call great football speed in pads and separates down the field from everyone. Moreau did not play football in 2024, and 2025 was his 1st year to play football since the age of 7. Most of the games I saw, he was the best player on the field. Trace had a great year for stats in football in 2025 with 1,169 all-purpose yards,651 yards as a Wide Receiver with 5 touchdowns, and 465 yards in return yards with 2 touchdowns. I think this kid has the talent to be a Southland Conference starter one day as a Wide Receiver. He currently does not have any football offers. Colleges just need to watch some full game film, and things will change quickly for this kid, and should once the college season is over. In the end, I think he will have a tough decision to make between Baseball and Football for college.

Trace Moreau is also a great Baseball prospect as a Hitter .413 Average, and Pitcher 2.5 ERA on the Mound. All District 2 years in a row, 2023 and 2024.All Region as a Pitcher in 2024. Sports are big in the family, too; his dad played high school football for Iowa High School. Moreau is also a very good student in the classroom with a GPA of 3.2.

Quotes from Trace Wyatt, Moreau St. Louis High School Class of 2026.

I need to get bigger, faster, stronger, and just get a good feel for the game for football. This was my first year to play Football since I was 7 years old. I’ve always played Baseball, so I know there’s so much more for me to learn and more potential to grow in Football.

My best game in 2025 as a player was against Iowa High School. In 202,5 caught 11 catches,152 yards receiving, and 2 touchdown catches. It was a great game we had overall as a team, going against a very good Iowa team.

My Wide Receiver coach, Trey Quinn(former LSU and SMU star WR), obviously has a ton of knowledge about the game, and just the attention to detail he uses in every little drill really teaches you a lot and is always pushing you to be the best.

The fans we have at St. Louis High School are always there, no matter the sport or event. They always show up and support. They are definitely the best in Louisiana.

I feel like our record this year, St. Louis, for Football, does not really show the whole picture. Even though it’s my first year, I can feel the difference in the culture with Head Coach Chris Truax(Former LSU Offensive Lineman and Veteran College coach), Coach Letson, and Coach Trey Quinn. The team is really night and day from last year in 2024. With the players we have coming back for 2025, the program definitely will continue to get stronger said Trace Moreau.”
