Frederick Barra, George Washington Carver High School, New Orleans, Louisiana
Class of 2027 athlete Frederick Barra of George Washington Carver High School is a standout athlete in Louisiana. Standing at 6’0 and weighing 181 pounds, Barra has the ability to line up at receiver, return kicks, and take some snaps at running back.
This past season, Barra recorded 1,936 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns, which included 49 receptions for 857 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns. Barra’s play on the field earned him second-team all-state honors as an athlete and honorable mention all-state as a kick returner. He was also voted as his district’s MVP.
According to Lee Brecheen, Barra is a prospect whose physical tools are simply unmatched.
“One of the best athletes I have seen in Louisiana. He does things on the football field you can’t teach.”
In the classroom, Barra puts in just as much effort as he does on the field. He has a 3.75 GPA, and Barra is looking to major in engineering once he gets to college.
Barra spoke very highly of his teammates and his coach, Louis Figueroa Jr.
“Something I can say about playing for George Washington Carver High School is that we have a family bond. Head Coach keeps us on the right path, and we live by the mantra, Fear Kills Growth.”
Barra is currently committed to Alcorn State University, and athletes are common in his family, as his father played college football at Louisiana Tech University.
