Recruiting Spotlight: Eric Jones, Lakeside High School, Sibley, Louisiana‍

6’2 200-pound linebacker Eric Jones of Lakeside High School is one of the most underrated athletes in Louisiana. His main position is linebacker, but Jones also shows promise at running back and returner. Jones does whatever the team asks of him to win.

He put together an elite Junior season, recording 80 tackles, four tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one interception while receiving 1st Team All-District Honors. Jones’s most valuable ability is his great combination of speed and strength.

According to Lee Brecheen, Jones shows promise on both sides of the ball, and he controls his own destiny.

“A sleeper in North Louisiana that also plays some running back for the team on offense. He could end up Division I or I-AA in the end, depending on his senior season,” Breechen said.

Jones is also a very capable running back, totaling 97 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries. He also caught 11 passes for 215 yards and four touchdowns. His speed and versatility allow him to be productive all over the field.

Jones is just as strong academically as he is on the field. He has a 4.0 GPA, and he scored a 28 on the ACT. Jones also has big goals after college, planning to major in engineering once he gets to the next level.

Coming from a smaller school can seem like a disadvantage for many prospects, but Jones talks about what he loves about playing at Lakeside Highschool.

“The best way to put playing for my school is it’s like a brotherhood. We got a bunch of guys in my class that have played football our whole lives, and we’ve grown together through it,” Jones said.

Although Jones doesn’t have any offers as of right now, he has gotten interest from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and East Texas Baptist University. Both schools have also invited him to camps over the summer.

With great versatility and elite play from the linebacker position, Eric Jones is a Class of 2027 prospect who can make an impact at the next level, as he will continue to do whatever is asked of him.
