Recruiting Spotlight: Charcolby Donaldson, A.J. Ellender High School, Houma, Louisiana

Wide receiver Charcolby Donaldson of A.J. Ellender High School is a freak athlete in Louisiana’s Class of 2027. Standing at 6’2’’ and weighing 163 pounds, Donaldson has the physical tools necessary to line up at wide receiver at the next level.

Donaldson put together an impressive junior season, recording 42 receptions for 685 yards and eight touchdowns. Donaldson also returned 12 punts for 210 yards and one touchdown, showing potential as a return specialist as well. He also played basketball for A.J. Ellender High School, but he was more focused on football.

According to Lee Brecheen, Donaldson has athleticism that is very slept-on, and his physical tools alone show the impact he can make at the next level.

“He’s a really athletic and fast player. He’s a sleeper from the Houma area that I saw play in 2025,” said Brecheen.

When it comes to academics, Donaldson maintains a 2.4 GPA. Once he gets to college, he wants to major in either sports management or business.

Donaldson spoke about how he embraces the everyday grind of football with his teammates.

“The brotherhood on this team makes it feel like family. Even though the seasons are tough, we stay locked in and compete hard every Friday night for our community in Houma,” said Donaldson.

Donaldson does not have any official offers yet, but he has been talking to several colleges. He has also attended several camps this summer
