Middle linebacker Carter Macha of Teurlings Catholic High School is one of the more productive defensive players in Louisiana’s Class of 2027. Standing 6’2” and weighing 205 pounds, Macha has developed into a physical, instinctive defender for the Teurlings Catholic Rebels.
Macha put together an impressive 2025 season, leading the Rebels’ defense. He recorded 95 total tackles, including 21 solo stops and 74 assists. He also added one sack, seven tackles for loss, one interception, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. His ability to consistently find the football and create turnovers has made him a key playmaker in the middle of the defense.
According to Lee Brecheen, Macha’s style of play stands out across the state.
“He’s one of the toughest old-school football players in Louisiana that I saw play last year that’s returning,” Brecheen said.

Beyond football, Macha is also an elite wrestler. He is a three-time state champion and currently has a strong 30–3 record in the 2025–26 season. His wrestling background shows up on the football field through his leverage, balance, and tackling ability—traits that help him excel at the linebacker position.
In the classroom, Macha maintains a solid 3.5 GPA while balancing multiple sports and a demanding athletic schedule. Macha takes great pride in representing Teurlings Catholic and the tradition of the Rebels program.
“I am proud to wear Rebels across my chest because it represents tradition,” Macha said. “My grandfather and several of my uncles played football for TCHS. At the beginning of last season, there was a lot of uncertainty because we had a new coach, but Coach Mikey Courville really listened to the players and believed in the team. He used the motto #TOGETHER to bring us together, and we were able to go undefeated in the regular season, win district, and compete in the playoffs.”
Athletics also run deep in the Macha family. Carter’s father, Brad Macha, who also serves as his wrestling coach, was a four-time state wrestling champion at Redemptorist High School.
As Carter Macha enters the next stage of his recruiting process, he remains undecided on a college major but is focused on continuing to improve both on the field and in the classroom.
