Recruiting Spotlight: Ayren Woods, DeRidder High School, DeRidder, Louisiana
6 '6 200 Class of 2027 ATH Ayren Woods of DeRidder High School is a multi-sport athlete who has multiple skill sets to show off his versatility. Playing outside linebacker, wide receiver, punter, and safety, Woods is willing to do whatever it takes to help a football program succeed, playing all over the field.
This past season, Woods recorded 80 total tackles, 6 pass breakups, and an interception. He also recorded 9 punts with his longest going 44 yards. Woods maintains a 4.6 GPA in the classroom.
Woods’s athletic ability expands far beyond the football field. In track, he clocked a 42.10 in the 300-meter hurdles as well as finishing as a state qualifier for the high jump at 6 '6, top 4 in DeRidder High School history. In basketball, Woods averaged 4.3 blocks per game, enough to win defensive MVP.
According to Lee Brecheen, Woods is one of the most talented players in the state of Louisiana, and he believes he has what it takes to play at the next level.
“This is a kid who has as much talent as anyone you will see on film for college football. Once this kid fills out in another year, he will be a starter in college, and I think at a high level. I saw Woods play last year in the playoffs. He can run a 4.59 to 4.6 forty and gives high effort.”
While Woods doesn’t currently have any offers, he has visited the University of Lafayette, Southern University, and Northwestern University, while also in contact with Florida State University.
Woods plans to major in Business or Sports Medicine and lives by the quote: “You gain consistency by doing the little things right.”
