Head Coach:Doug Dotson(2nd year)
2025 Record:8-4
2025 Playoffs:1st Round beat Carencro HS 29-21, and 2nd Round lost to St. Augustine HS 55-42
Signees Colleges:DB JL Malbrew(Hampton Sydney College), CB Taveian Landry(Lamar U), DT/DE Darryus McKinley(Ohio State), WR Travis Gallien(East Mississippi JC), QB Ty Lamartina(Baseball Northwestern State), and RB Dion Simon(Long Beach California JC)
Team Outlook:  In 2026 we have the talent on paper to be pretty good as a team,” said coach Dotson.
I was able to take in Summer/Spring workouts at Acadiana High School and came away super impressed with close to 100 players in workouts, a few strong players, and many talented new and experienced players returning. Give coach Dotson and his staff credit. In 2025 they started the season off 0-3 and ended up winning District with a 7-0 record and making it to the 2nd Round of the playoffs with a team that returned very few starters from the 2024 team. I think the Rams have a chance to be one of the best Class 5A teams in Louisiana when it is said and done.
The Offense will have Championship playmakers with a deep rotation at RB/WR. Here are some of the players to watch: RB newcomer Deshaun Lightfoot, 5'11", 205 pounds, 4.5 speed, with all the talent in the world to be a 4-year starter in High School, 1st year with the Rams; RB/WR Syrian Joseph, 6'0", 195 pounds, 4.45 speed, big-time playmaker; WR Collin DiBetta, 5'10", 180 pounds, a 4-year starter, 4.5 speed in the forty; WR Gabriel DeCuir, 6'0", 170 pounds, 4.59 speed in the forty; RB James Brown, 5'8", 165 pounds, 4.5 speed; RB Kacynn Ollison, 5'9", 165 pounds, 4.5 speed; RB/DB Jaivyon Rydeaux, 5'9", 165 pounds, 4.45 speed; RB Brooklyn Lewis, 5'9", 170 pounds, 4.5 speed; RB Ashton Barras, 5'8", 165 pounds; RB Braylon Odom, 5'9", 180 pounds; FB Ashton Fontenot, 5'11", 195 pounds; WR Malik Gloston, 6'3", 180 pounds; and WR JaBarian Boudreaux, 5'11", 170 pounds, 4.5 speed in the forty.
New starting Quarterback will be Cohen DiBetta, 6'2", 215 pounds, with an arm and good feet, can run too. DiBetta has reps in games and is ready to lead this team. The Offensive Line will be led by OC/OG/OT Isaias Avalos, 6'2", 270 pounds, senior leader; OG Brandon Nezey, 6'4", 285 pounds, a converted Defensive Tackle; OL Nicholas Cooper, 5'9", 235 pounds; OL Landen Lavergne, 5'9", 240 pounds; and 2-way starter Kedrick Bourgeois, 5'10", 245 pounds, really athletic and strong. Starting at Tight End should be Austin Daigle, 6'5", 225 pounds.
The Defense will have size and speed back, led by DE/OLB Javevian Lawrence, 6'4", 230 pounds; DE Joel Dorion, 6'1", 230 pounds; DE Aedon Pierce, 6'2", 230 pounds; DT Carderian Brown, 6'1", 285 pounds; DT Justin McClove, 5'11", 270 pounds; DT Damorian Magee, 6'0", 280 pounds; LB Tylan Nolan, 5'11", 195 pounds, 4.6 speed in the forty; LB Beckham Guidry, 5'10", 190 pounds; OLB Kameron Bourgeois, 6'0", 200 pounds; LB Tristan Robert, 5'10", 185 pounds; CB Ty Thomas, 5'10", 175 pounds, 4.4 speed in the forty; CB/Safety Makel Narcisse, 6'1", 185 pounds, 4.5 speed in the forty; CB Tavien Gallien, 6'2", 180 pounds, 4.5 speed; Safety Davon Bell, 5'8", 170 pounds, new starter; and, if he returns in the Fall, big-time CB Javiontae Shephard, 6'0", 180 pounds, a returning starter.
Special Teams returns one of the best Kicker/Punters in Louisiana, Josh Marquez, 6'1", 240 pounds, All District in 2025, had a long Punt of 60 yards in a game in 2025. In the return game, Collin DiBetta will have a chance to make things happen again on Special Teams.

Head Coach:Dennis (Skeet) Owens(4th year)
2025 Record:7-6
2025 Playoffs:1st Round beat Northwest HS,2nd Round beat West Monroe HS, and Quarterfinals lost to Neville HS.
Signees Colleges:DB Tristan Bilbo(Texas Wesleyan)
2026 Non District Games: Week 1 Iowa(Home), Week 2 St. Louis(Away), and Week 3 Cecillia HS(Home).
Team Outlook: “ We have a talented group coming back especially on Offense,” said coach Owens. We need to play as one don’t look ahead or think of last year’s success. We will have a large senior class in 2026 and just need to go out there and play to the best of our ability and things will work out in the end.”
It’s not every day in Class 5A you return the heart of the team, a Quarterback that will be going into his 4th year as a starter, Jelandon Gray, 6'0", 190 pounds (Passed for 2,446 yards, ran for 1,462 yards, had 47 total Touchdowns, and over 5,000 career passing yards). The Bucs will have a new Turf Field in 2026 for Football and will be scary what this kid can do on turf with his speed and arm for home games.
Also back will be 4-year starting Running Back Jordin Griffin, 5'9", 190 pounds, who has DI offers in both Baseball and Football and is currently committed to LSU in Baseball. Griffin was All District in 2025 as a RB, scoring 28 total Touchdowns. Then there’s a big weapon returning in the passing game, SR WR Sawyer Kuypers, 6'2", 212 pounds (55 catches, 1,044 yards as a WR with 14 Touchdowns). Kuypers can run a legit 4.59 forty or better and is a matchup nightmare for high school Linebackers and Defensive Backs because he also has good hands and runs great routes for a kid who is 212 pounds.
More skill players to keep an eye on are WR newcomer Fischer Willis, 5'8", 155 pounds; RB Connor Joyce, 5'11", 185 pounds, new to the program; WR Chris Rideaux, 6'1", 180 pounds, newcomer; TE/WR Bryce Victorian, 6'3", 180 pounds; WR Mac Fitzgerald, 5'10", 155 pounds; TE/FB Ty Guillory, 6'0", 205 pounds, new starter; WR/CB Jayden Jasmine, 5'10", 160 pounds; and 2-way player Terrius Lemons, 5'9", 170 pounds, with legit 4.5 speed or better.
The Offensive Line, though not deep with players, has some really good starters and will be a good unit, led by OT Kyle Wilkinson, 6'3", 250 pounds, 2nd-year starter; OC/OG Jackson Collins, 5'10", 235 pounds, new starter; OL D’andre Dugas, 6'3", 310 pounds, 2nd-year starter; starting Center Ulises Oziell Prado, 5'10", 245 pounds, 2nd-year starter; and rotating in OG Kyllin J. Brooks, 6'0", 240 pounds; OL Jace Brown, 6'1", 215 pounds; and OL Maddox Ledeaux, 6'1", 240 pounds.
The Defense will be led by one of the best tacklers in the Lake Charles area, Linebacker James Bo Armstrong, SR, 5'9", 205 pounds (122 tackles in 2025, and 60 of those solo), Hon. Mention All State also in 2025. The strength of the Defense will be toughness and speed at all positions.
More players to watch are LB Julien Rideaux, 5'8", 195 pounds; DT/DE Jayden Joubert, 5'10", 205 pounds; sleeper Safety Dedrick Tillman, 5'10", 170 pounds, All District in 2025; DE Conner Vallaire, 6'3", 240 pounds, SR; 2nd-year starter LB Rayson Bethea, 5'10", 185 pounds; OLB Myles Pitre, 6'0", 180 pounds; CB Beckett Bertrand, 5'9", 150 pounds; and DE Wyatt Couvillion, 6'2", 230 pounds, new starter.
These are kids competing to rotate and provide depth for the Defense: Athlete Malcolm Freeman, 5'7", 145 pounds, 4.6 speed in the forty; Safety Gavin Floyd, 5'9", 155 pounds; and more young players competing in the Fall.
Special Teams, the new starting Kicker is All State Will Flavin, 6'3", 200 pounds, who I think is the best Kicker in the Class of 2027 with a 60-yard leg and kicks the ball 5-6 yards deep in the End Zone 90 percent of the time. Long Snapper will be Gunner Webb, 5'10", 175 pounds, new starter. Holder will be Tripp Letson, 5'7", 140 pounds, also a WR for the Offense in the rotation.

Head Coach:Stephen Hearen (2nd year)
2025 Record:6-5
2025 Playoffs: 1st Round lost to Jesuit HS
Team Outlook: “I am excited with the new school that was built for the 2025 school year and the new Football Field/Stadium turf and many other improvements like our new Weight Room will help us as a program train and grow to where we want to be as a program,” said coach Hearen.
I was able to visit the school in 2025 and came away impressed with the new school and facilities. It’s as nice as any new school you will visit anywhere in the US.
The Offense will return a really good starting Quarterback in Richmond Saunier, 6'2", 205 pounds, with 4.6 speed in the forty or faster and a really good arm. This kid is one of the top Quarterbacks in Louisiana, in my opinion, and one of the most skilled big QBs.
Here’s a group of skill players to watch on Offense: RB/OLB Jordan Nyumba, 6'0", 175 pounds; TE/WR Cooper Bolivat, 6'0", 190 pounds; TE Demarion Bernard, 6'1", 215 pounds; WR/TE Lloyd Gresham Hargett, 6'1", 195 pounds; RB/LB Bryson Paul Lee, 6'0", 185 pounds; TE Thomas Swain, 6'3", 225 pounds; WR/DB Brensyn Farnsworth, 5'10", 160 pounds; WR/DB Owen Dozier, 5'11", 160 pounds; and talented RB/LB Leiland Joseph, 5'10", 165 pounds.
The Offensive Line, a strong point for the team, will be led by OG/OC Evan Dulaney, 5'11", 305 pounds, SR leader; OT/DL Jamari Perkins, 6'2", 295 pounds, leader; OL/DL Javien Williams, 5'9", 225 pounds; OL/DL Amore Shelvin, 6'0", 265 pounds; and OT/DE Kayden Mouton, 5'10", 240 pounds.
The Defense will be young but talented, led by Linebacker Brody Savoy, 5'10", 185 pounds, SR leader; LB/Safety Kyle Savoy, 5'9", 175 pounds; DE/DT Claude Alexander IV, 6'1", 225 pounds; DB Ian Graham, 5'7", 145 pounds; OLB Clark Griffin; SR OLB/RB Bryson Lee, 6'0", 185 pounds; LB Grant Michael Sliman, 5'9", 170 pounds, SR; LB Alexjandro Carreon, 5'9", 180 pounds; LB Judz Brown, 5'9", 190 pounds; and CB/SS Jadarion Edwards, 5'7", 150 pounds.
Special Teams returning at Kicker/Punter will be 3-year starter Adrian Matellan, 5'11", 170 pounds, SR, a Soccer player that has become a good Kicker.

New Iberia Yellowjackets

Head Coach:Zi’yon Hill Green(1st year)
2025 Record:0-10
Team Outlook: New Head Football Coach Zi’yon Hill Green played football as a Defensive End for UL Ragin' Cajuns (2017-2022) and was a great college football player. In High School, I covered him for 4 years as a player. He was All State at Catholic of New Iberia High School. This will be his 1st head-coaching job.
After several attempts, I was not able to get an interview with coach to go over the team in time for the preview.
I know the school has a rich tradition and talent. If they can get back to having a winning season and making the playoffs, this program will have a chance to get back to winning, and I hope coach can do that since he is from New Iberia and can change the culture and get back to winning games for the Yellowjackets.

2026 Non District  Games: Natch Central HS(Away), East Ascension HS(Home), and Lake Charles Prep HS(Away).

The Offensive Line has a chance to be one of the best in the district, led by All State Albert Simien, 6'3", 304 pounds, who will also play some Defensive Line in 2026. Signees Colleges:CB Cameron Allen(Nicholls State),and DB Emanuel Collins(Louisiana Tech)
Team Outlook: “Feel good a lot of starters back on both sides of the football in 2026,” said coach Curtis. “I feel good about this team with our starting QB back Parker Dies. He makes this team go as a leader with his experience and competes at a high level.”
Not many teams in Class 5A football in Louisiana will have the depth (200 players in the program) and Athletes Southside will return in 2026. This team has a chance to play for a State Title in 2026.
The Offense does return a special player to the program, QB Parker Dies, 6'0", 180 pounds, with legit 4.5 speed in the forty and has a good arm, a Dual-threat QB looking to have his best year ever. The run game has a chance to be one of the best in Louisiana, returning several players who can carry the rock, led by big-time player Justin Williams, 5'10", 205 pounds, legit 4.4 speed in the forty and one of the strongest RB’s in Louisiana; WR/RB Coby Broussard Jr., 5'10", 190 pounds, another special player with 4.5 speed; RB Jovan Joya, 5'10", 210 pounds; and there’s more RB’s waiting their turn to be in the rotation.
The Wide Receiver room is deep, led by WR/DB Kollen Francois, 5'10", 170 pounds, 4.4 speed, one of the best playmakers in Louisiana; WR Ryan Sealy, 5'11", 170 pounds, 4.5 speed; WR Jayden Moncrieffe, 6'1", 175 pounds, 4.45 speed; and WR Braylon Jackson, 5'10", 170 pounds, rotating in.

The Defense has tons of speed and leaders back in DB Kollen Francois; SS/CB Jonathan Armstrong, 5'11", 175 pounds; Safety Jack Jones; CB Dwayne Johnson, 6'1", 170 pounds; DE Ethan Roque, 6'2", 225 pounds, 3-year starter, leader; DE Landry Kahler, 6'2", 220 pounds, talented player; DT Tyler Bruce, 6'0", 230 pounds, strong kid; CB Chayse Malveaux, 6'2", 175 pounds, 4.45 speed; LB Charlie Cormier, 5'11", 220 pounds; LB/DE Briggs Migues, 6'1", 210 pounds; and DE Collin Kahler, 6'2", 210 pounds.
