Ben Franklin (Not for District)

Head Coach: Arnold Little II(1st year)

2024 Record:1-8

2024 Playoffs: Not Eligible for District Honors or playoffs

2025 Playoffs: Not Eligible for District Honors of playoffs

Key players Graduated: QB Noah Tierney, DL Camden Clark, DE/OL Eli Sanders, DL/OL Edan Bonen, OL/DL Emilio Sequira, WR/DB Ryan Williams

Team Outlook: I think we will surprise a lot of people in 2025. The product we put on the field has a chance to be good, I think, this coming year. Our motto for the team is “ Prepare, Execute, and Fight said Head Coach Arnold Little II.”

Tidbits: Head Coach Arnold Little II has been the Offensive Coordinator since 2021 at Ben Franklin High School, prior to becoming the head football coach. Coach Little II will be in his 7th year overall at the school in 2025. Coach has been teaching Chemistry and Physics for 24 years as a Teacher. Coach Little's son, Arnold Little III, played football for Lusher High School as a star player and will now be on his dad’s coaching staff at Ben Franklin High School in 2025 as a QB coach for the team. Coach Arnold Little II is an alumnus of McMain High School (Class 1998).

Here are players to watch in 2025 WR/RB Shawn Warren 5-8 165 4 year starter, OT/DT/TE Jalen Bailey 6-3 245 4 year starter, QB Dylan Williams 5-3 140 tough and quick new starter, QB Prateek Adhikari 5-9 170 also will compete for the QB starting spot, RB/LB Abriel Stringfellow 5-11 190 2nd year starter, WR/DB Adonis Tunnell 5-11 150 2nd year starter, WR/RB Caleb Anderson-Clarke 6-1 185 2nd year starter, OL Tahj Bartney 6-0 250 2nd year starter, DB Patrick Blanain 6-1 180 2nd year starter, and LB/WR ANDUC Pran 5-10 185 new starter.

Special Teams will have Silas Meister 5-10 165 back for his 2nd year as the starting Kicker and will start for the team as a Safety/WR for the 1st time in 2025.

Bonnabel Bruins

Head Coach:Andre Anthony(1st year) 

2024 Record:5-6 

2024 Playoffs:1st Round 

Key players Graduated: WR/CB David Perry, RB/DB Brandon Lewis, DT Trey Lewis, QB Mykhain Adams, OL Seth Judd, OL Chris Dickens, and Kicker Justin Acosta.

Team Outlook: Changed the culture of the program. Summer and Spring workouts were really strong for us as a team. More kids want to play football in our program now. The Offense will also change some in 2025 said Head Coach Andre Anthony, and former LSU & Edna Karr HS DE/OLB.” 

The young Offense will be led by WR/RB Coryon Hollins, 5-7 160 SR 3 3-year starter with 4.5 speed, RB/OLB Deron Harvey, 5-11 210 2nd year starter, and veteran 3-year starter on the Offensive Line, Drexel Gonzales, 6-0 310 SR, who can play both OC/OG. The Offense has two talented young QBs competing in Carl and Causey, both young men are great Athletes for the program. The Defense returns alot of speed and some big time leaders in DE/MLB Quincy Jackson (8 Sacks) in 2024 a 3 year starter, CB Isiah Jackson Jr 5-8 165 3 year starter, LB Omari Doty 5-11 185 3 year starter, OLB/DE/MLB Marvin Causey 5-11 230 a 4 year starter leader, led team in tackles for losses with 11 in 2024. The Defense also returns leaders in 4-year starter CB Alfred Lee 5-10 160 4.59 speed, OLB Deron Harvey, a 2-way player CB/Nickel Jamarrion Williams a 2-year starter with 4.5 speed, DT Learick Stewart, and Safety Keon Harper a 2nd-year starter.

East Jefferson Warriors 

Head Coach: Ray Oxmann (1st year Interim Coach)

2024 Record: 8-4

2024 Playoffs: 1st Round won over Bonnabel HS,2nd Round lost to Catholic HS of Baton Rouge

2023 Record: 3-7

Key players Graduated: RB Paul Jones, DE/TE Dorrion Hollins, WR/CB David Johnson, WR/DB Malcolm Jones, LB/FB Cody Jones, DT/FB Manuel Aguilar, DB Chris Filmore, QB Gaven Bester, LB Drew Poche, OL Zion Washington, P/K Byron Cortez, OL Carl Ragan. 

Team Outlook: Excited about the opportunity for these young men. I am the acting Interim Head Coach, but I was the Defensive Coordinator in 2024, and I have been the current Athletic Director for the school for the last 5 years. We lost 20 seniors from the 2024 team, a lot of experience. Winning the District in 2024 in Football was really big for the school. Kids here are committed to the program to have continued success in the future said coach Ray Oxmann.”

Tidbits: Coach Ray Oxmann is the interim Head Coach, and there is a strong possibility the team will have a new coach by the end of the Summer, but as of this going out in July, the coach is running things as the Athletic Director of the school too. Coach Oxmann will be the Defensive Coordinator once a coach is named in 2025. Coach Oxmann, I met years ago when he was an assistant coach for St. James High School under then Head Coach Rick Gallie, a Hall of Fame coach, and learned from many great coaches on the staff, like Don Rodrigue, they call coach Rod, and many others. Coach Oxmann graduated from college, Hampton-Sydney in Virginia.Coach is a High School graduate of Holy Cross High School (Class 1990). Coach is married to the former WNBA Famed former 10-year pro Barbara Farris, who played for Tulane in college, went to St. Martin’s High School, and is currently an assistant coach for the Texas State University Women's Basketball program. Coach Farris won 5 State Titles for Girls Basketball at John Curtis High School.

The program will be led by returning starting Quarterback Curtis Johnson Jr, 6-0 170, who will be entering his 2nd year as the starting QB. Curtis had a really good 2024 season and looks to lead this team back to the playoffs again in 2025. The run game will return SR Harry Haynes 5-8, 160, a very smart player on the field and in the classroom.

John Ehret Patriots

Head Coach:Willie Brooks(1st year) 

2024 Record:4-6

Key players Graduated: DE Gary Francois, CB Kurtis Milburn, OG Ronald Randolph Jr, OC Christian Williams, WR Mike Henry Jr, WR Anaj Payton, WR Keain Shorts,

Team Outlook: Still learning my team as we go into the Summer. This team coming back probably has more potential than any team I’ve been a part of in my career. Kids are passionate. We have the potential to be really good in 2025 and beyond said Head Coach Willie Brooks.”

The Offense will be built around QB Sylas Rood coming back for his 2nd year at QB. Has a great arm and knows the Offense with 4.5 speed in the forty. The Offense will have size and speed all over, with many players coming back to make this a possible high-scoring Offense in 2025. Some of those players are WR David Smith 5-10 170 SR 4.45 speed, WR/QB Terry Bolds 4.5 speed, WR Darrell Taylor 4.45 speed, RB Jorrin Jenkins 4.5 speed, RB/SS Christian Andrews 6-0 185 4.5 speed, Athlete/QB/WR Ahlyja Trim, WR Terrell Turnage 4.5 speed, and WR Terrell Taylor 4.5 speed. The Offensive Line has size and will be led by veteran starter coming back 6-6 325 pounds Corey Dudley, OL Daicin Green, OL Ray Hampton, OL Brandin Smith, OG/OC Vontre Vail 5-10 240, and others competing.

The Defense will also be Athletic, young, and have the chance to become a great unit. The front seven will be lead by Lewis Petty 5-11 195 4.5 speed SR, OLB Ja’ren Miller 6-0 205 4.5 speed, DT Makennie Nichols, 5-11, 265 SR, DT Erskine Russell, 5-11, 265 SR, DE/OLB Julian O’Brice, 6-3, 215, DE Raheem Bennett, 6-2, 205, DE Darnell Keller, and DE Jayvin Ortiz, 6-4, 215. The Defensive Backfield will be led by Safety Sincere Keller, 5-10 175, 2nd year starter, 4.5 speed, CB Kalen Hester, 6-0 175, SR with 4.45 speed, and Safety Christian Andrews, 6-0 185, 4.5 speed. 

L.W. Higgins Hurricanes

Head Coach:Emmanuel Powell(2nd year)

2024 Record:2-8 

2024 Playoffs: 

Key players graduated: QB Traivus James, LB Eddie Petty, and OL/DL Rudy Scott. 

Team Outlook: I think kids still need to continue to buy in, going into the 2025 Summer. There are only 4 Seniors in the program in 2025. We have close to 30 players in our off-season workouts compared to 16 or 14 in 2024, and we are still trying to grow the number of players for our roster in 2025 said Head Coach Emmanuel Powell.”

 The program will build around these players all mostly two way players for the program WR/DB Jaquan Frazier 6-1 185 2nd year starter, RB/DB Ja’Ron Haywood 5-11 175, WR/SS/FS Justin Whitley 6-2 190 3 year starter leader, QB/Athlete/WR Christian Bradley 5-9 170 3 year starter, DB Elijah Chapman 6-0 185, LB 2nd year starter Benarthur Johnson 5-10 195, TE/OLB/DE Nigel Russell 6-4 205 3 year starter and leader, RB Kyron Williams 6-0 195 2nd year starter, and SS/LB/RB Kinori Reynolds 5-11 190 3 year program player. 

Riverdale Scottish Rebels

Head Coach:Mark Longo(1st year) 

2024 Record:5-5.Lost a game because of a Hurricane

2024 Playoffs:1st Round lost to McDonough #35 HS

2023 Record:4-7

Key players Graduated: QB Rida Ghazzali(West Alabama), WR/SS Colby Bufkin, MLB Vernell Foster II, DT Landon Simmons, OG/DT Khrist Ramirez, OG Braydon Jenkins,

Team Outlook: Excited about the Riverdale family, who gave me this opportunity.These seniors I’ve known since middle school. Look to make a run in the playoffs in 2025 said Head Coach Mark Longo.”

Tidbits:  The program has a new Head Football Coach in Mark Longo, but he’s not new with the program. Coach Longo coached Linebackers on the Riverdale HS Staff in 2024, along with being the Head Coach in Track for the past  20 years at Riverdale High School. Coach Longo is also an alumnus of Riverdale High School, who played OG/LB for the school as a Class of 1997 Student Athlete. Riverdale High School will return 22 seniors to the 2025 team, a big, special group of kids with a lot of experience overall. Coach Longo graduated from college, SUNO(Southern University of New Orleans). All 22 seniors on the football team coming back have played in the playoffs three different years and have a rare chance to have four straight playoff seasons in a row as a group in 2025.

There are several leaders back with 3 or 4 years of experience as starters. Here are some of those players to keep a eye on RB/WR Byron Perrilliat 5-11 205 a 4 year starter with 4.5 speed in the forty, WR/DB Toren Signal 6-2 185 a 4 year starter with 4.5 speed in the forty, OG/DT Peyton Jelks 5-11 260 a 4 year starter, LB Cole Moses 6-0 200 a 4 year starter, new starting QB Lance Simmons 5-10 185 a 3 year starter in the program and also started some games as a QB his Soph and Freshman year, DE/DT Keith Walton 5-9 235 a 3 year starter, DE Darnell Bolton 6-0 205 a 3 year starter Captain on Defense, LB Greg Paris 6-1 210 with 4.7 speed in the forty a 3 year starter, OT Curtis Haywood 6-2 245 a 3 year starter, OG Samer Attamari 6-1 250 a 3 year starter, and CB Dwain Swilley 6-2 185 a 3 year starter.

More players who will start or play will be WR Zack Brown 5-11 170 2nd year starter, WR Armani McKennie 5-8 145 2nd year starter, DT Mylon Allen 6-2 210 2nd year starter, Safety Gabriel Adams 5-8 155 2nd year starter, LB Gavin Darby 5-10 180 2nd year starter, CB Sabyron Ferrell 6-3 165 2nd year starter, OT Michael Walton 6-1 260 new starter, WR Sy’our Ferrell 6-3 175 new starter but started 2 years for Bonnabell High School a newcomer big time player, DE Joey Phillips 6-0 195 new starter, TE/HB Carlos Williams 6-2 205 new starter, and RB Bryan Jackson will play as much as a starter running the football on Offense.

Special Teams will return one of the best Kickers in the District, David Diaz, 6-3 195, who made a 47-yard field goal in a game in 2024.

West Jefferson Buccaneers

Head Coach:Marcel Andry(2nd year) 

2024 Record:2-7 

2024 Playoffs: No 

Key players Graduated: SS Carl Windmon(Texas College), DB Chase Toliver(Texas College), OT Card’a Thompson(Southwest Mississippi JC), DE Dondrick Wilson, WR Andrew Guzman, and OL Grayson Pizani. 

Team Outlook: We are getting better and trying to improve on the little things in a program. Focus on player development and team bonding with the right culture. We only return two starters back on the Offensive Line said Head Coach Marcel Andry.” 

The Offense returns RB Carnell Cole, who ran for over 500 yards in 2024, RB Ron Petterson, WR Keadrick Murray big playmaker, RB/WR/Safety Kendrick Murray, WR David Hobbs, QB Ky’mani Atkins, whose arm is stronger in 2025, a really good Athlete, and WR Jamal Walker, who started at QB in 2024. The young Offensive Line will be led by 4-year starter Tylian Cummings, 6-4 275 SR, OG Meshar Laine, 6-3 265, TE/FB Edric Ussin, and a few young Lineman like OG MarvinCastellanoss, and OG Karon King, 6-2 280, starting for the first time in 2025.

The Defense will be lead by LB/Safety Dominick McFarland 7 ½ Sacks in 2024 a big time leader, CB Tieren Scott, who also doubles as a WR had 11 catches for 280 yards in 2024, CB Justin Gougis 5-11 160 SR(2 Interceptions in 2024), Safety Brandon McGowan 2nd year starter with 4.6 speed, LB Mekhi Webber 5-10 215 SR, DT Caine Maxwell, LB Cole Winters 6-1 215, also doubles as a Wildcat QB on Offense the leader of the team in 2025, LB Mikell Garrett 6-1 165, SS Jacob Patterson 5-11 210 SR, DT Troy Obazuaye 6-0 270 pounds strong and returning starter.
