Comeaux Spartans
Head Coach:Marquest Newsome(4th year)
2024 Record:0-10
2024 Playoffs: No
2023 Record:0-10
Key players Graduated: WR/TE Treylon Carmouche(Undecided), Athlete Akeem Demouche(LSU Student), CB Trey Thompson(John Melvin College), RB Jamar Michael(Centura, California JC), K/P Isaac Darela(Trying to Decide between Soccer or Football college), OT Travis Goodie(Coffeyville, Kansas JC), Athlete Clyde Kerr(LSU Student), and WR Carlos O’Brien(Louisiana Christian).
Team Outlook: The program, since 2022, has gone 0-30, and is looking to win some games in 2025. We had a lot of close games in 2024. The kids have been through a lot, the school almost closed after the 2024 season, the kids and parents spoke up to keep it going, and we are going to come together in 2025 and compete again with a small senior group. We do have experience returning for the first time in a few years, and I like our Junior Group of players, who got a lot of playing time in 2024. We should have anywhere from 70 to 80 players in the fall said Head Coach Marquest Newsome.”
Tidbits: I dont know many high school’s that had two Wide Receivers start at the same time as talented like WR Tre Harris(Louisiana Tech/Ole Miss/Los Angeles Chargers 2nd Round 2025 Draft Rookie), and WR Malik Nabers(LSU/109 catches as a rookie with the New York Giants 2024 Draft 1st Round). If Tre becomes a Pro Bowler in his rookie year 2025, then it will give Comeaux High School two of the greatest to ever play at one high school at the same time at the WR spot and would make history for a Louisiana High School. Malik Nabers did not play his senior season at Comeaux High School, but both he and Tre started at WR in Nabers' Junior and Soph seasons at Comeaux High School. Also like to mention one of the best to ever come out of Louisiana at the Wide Receiver spot is also an Alum of Comeaux High School, former USL and NFL starter Brandon Stockley.
The team and Offense will be led by 4-year starter RB/WR Jaden Celestine, 5-11, 180, with legit 4.45 speed in the forty, great hands, and ability to score every time he touches the ball. The QB Spot also returns Sean Brinkhaus, 6-2 170 SR, the team leader, and getting better every day. The Offensive Line will be young but does return 4-year starter leader Reece Boutte, 5-11 255, and OT Gabriel Cooper, 6-2 245. Also keep an eye on WR Charles Lee, and newcomer RB Caden Resser 5-8 160, who might be the fastest player on the team with 4.40 speed.
The Defense returns enough talent to build around in Defensive Tackle Braylon Thomas 6-1 260 SR Honorable Mention All District in 2024, LB/Safety Zachary Lam 5-11 175 moved from RB/WR, DE Larry Vallier 6-4 220 2nd leading tackler in 2024, LB/SS Clark Griffin 5-11 180 2nd year starter 4.6 speed, DT Javontrey Robertson 6-1 265 strong kid, CB Alfred Francis 5-10 175 4.5 speed 2nd year starter, and another 2nd year starter in CB A’ven Antoine 5-11 165 4.5 speed.
Special Teams will be handled by RB Caden Resser, both Kicking & Punting spots.
North Vermillion Patriots
Head Coach:Roderick Moy(2nd year)
2024 Record:3-7
2024 Playoffs:1st Round lost to Belle Chasse
2023 Record:2-8

Team Outlook: Extremely excited about this coming season. We have a great future with a talented Freshman class coming in of 32 players. The strength of our team will be our Defensive Line in 2025. The QB job we have 3 players battling for the starting spot in the Spring & Summer. We also need to replace 4 starters from our Secondary said Head Coach Roderick Moy.”
Like the coach said, the QB position will be a battle among Jackson Romero, a starting DB in 2024, who can play multiple positions for the team, talented QB Eli Dubois, also a great Athlete, and the talented young QB Jackson Frederick. The WR & RB spots you have WR/FS Daegan Broussard 5-11 160, WR Jackson Simien 5-10 155, RB Gage Wise 5-7 160, and WR Ben Monagham will also be in the rotation. The Offensive Line, who have Julien Bellard 6-1 235 returning, OT Kollin Ardoin 6-1 285 back, and OT/DT Camden Thibodeaux 6-4 380. Look for a few players to battle for the remaining spots over Spring/Summer.
The Defense returns two great leaders in DE/DT Brooks Broussard 5-11 220, a big time player, quick and full throttle, along with NG/DE Chase Hensley 5-10 250, all out also. The rest of the Defense you have LB Chandler Richard, a great tackler, LB Jax Smith, 5-11 180, 2nd year starter, Safety David Romero, 5-10 155, and Safety/DB Lane Bernard, 6-0 170. 2025 Playoffs:3-8.1st Round lost to Istrouma HS.
Key players Graduated: LB/RB/P Ja’Nathan Bonnet, RB/OLB Miles Bruno, Athlete Jaylin Williams, OG/DE Jemiyi Navy.
Team Outlook: We only had 28 players in the program in 2024. The buy has been greater going into the 2025 season. We have more depth in the Offensive & Defensive Lines this coming year. We look for a much better year in 2025 said Head Coach Jacarde Carter.”
Tidbits: Head Coach Jacarde Carter former All-SWAC Linebacker for Grambling State U, has built this program back with back-to-back playoff appearances for the program. The Vikings will have close to 40 players for the fall. I had a chance to spend 3 hours on a Spring Practice this year at the school, and really impressed with the coaching staff and there is talent at the school, size and speed, and numbers are up. I hope the coach can keep these kids together because the staff is working hard to turn things around. I saw it with my own eyes, and like I said, was super impressed with the effort and intensity I saw at practice in full pads.
The Offense will return experience and speed lead by WR Damon Comeaux SR 5-7 150 4.45 speed, WR Jai Joseph new starter 6-4 200, RB/LB Clint Cormier 5-10 155, WR Travon Thomas 5-8 135 SR, RB/WR Kendall George Jr 5-6 150, WR Javivion Thompson, WR Jesse James 6-3 160, RB Caleb Mouton 5-9 170 a converted LB who had 112 tackles in 2024, RB Cameron Celestine 5-6 145 with speed and quickness, and 2 way starter RB/WR/OLB Javonte Broussard had over 800 yards of Offense in 2024. The QB spot will be a battle between two great Athlete’s Caleb Joseph 6-3 175, and Chase Dugas 6-0 160. Both will start somewhere if not QB in 2025. Dugas was a Safety on Defense in 2024, and Joseph lettered in 2024 as a WR/CB. The Offensive Line is lead by OT/DT Corde Portier 5-11 220 good feet all out player, OG Kayden Gee SR leader returning starter 6-1 230, OL/OC Juandre Alexander 5-10 260 3rd year starter, OL/DL Josh James Willis Jr 5-11 190, OT Axel Cruz 6-4 235, and OT/DE James Ross.

Special Teams, the program will have Long Snapper Josh Willis Jr starting for the team. Willis will also get reps at LB & OG for the team.
Rayne Wolves
Head Coach:Kaine Guidry(7th year)
2024 Record:4-7
2024 Playoffs:1st Round lost to Lakeshore HS
2023 Record:7-4.1st Round lost to Opelousas HS
Key players Graduated: WR/DB Kylin Wheeler(Nicholls State, 4,800 total yards Offense and 75 career touchdowns), WR/DB/RB Korey Malone, CB/OLB/WR/RB Cooper Letchworth, WR/CB Maccoy Wilson, SS Tristan Scott, OG Kayton Cruz, DT/OL Wendell Price.
Team Outlook: Rebuild year for us in 2025. Kylin Wheeler & Korey Malone were most of our Offense the last 3 years. Those 2 kids were special for this program as 4-year starters. The Defense has a chance to be good. We have a new QB and a lot of new faces on the Offensive Line. I do like our scheme and system we have in place to continue to be successful here said Head Coach Kaine Guidry.”
Tidbits: I had a chance to meet the Rayne High School football team back in February of 2025 and sat down with coach Guidry, and was impressed with the players in the program. These kids work hard and have bought into the system like the coach said. For a Class 4A school, they don't have a large number of players, but the players they have are really good kids and football players. I was able to attend workouts for the team after the season was over, and these coaches work hard, teaching and are serious when it comes to teaching these kids plays on Offense and Defense. The team is also in great condition, from linemen to skill players; everybody on the team can run with high effort.
The key to the team in 2025 will step up and become playmakers in the run game and passing game. The Offense will go with QB Austin Judice, 5-8, 165 has experience and knows the Offense in and out. Judice started in 2024 as a Safety on Defense, but also got some reps at QB. The run game will be heavy in 2205 lead by also RB/Safety Rudolph Peter 5-9 170 SR, RB/CB Chase Curry 5-8 160, and RB Dallas Beercier a transfer who will have to sit out the 1st 6 games in 2025 but can become a starter or big time player in the Offense at 6-0 180 pounds with speed and some power. The passing game will have WR/FS Synere Smith 5-9 145 a 2nd year starter with big time playmaking ability potential, TE Brody Trahan 6-4 245 a great blocker but also has soft hands as a WR for a big kid gifted, WR/CB Tyreke Gordon 5-7 `145 new player with speed and skills, WR/CB Lionel Francis 6-3 160 new player with ability, and other young players will compete to get reps on Offense. The Offensive Line returns a big time leader and player in Izra Jackson 6-3 280 a 2nd year starter, OL Reed Romero 6-0 260, OL/DL Isaiah Guilbeau 5-9 225 2nd year starter, OL/LB Blaize Mouton 5-8 200 new starter, OG Brody Castille 6-2 270 2nd year starter and DT/OL Chaiden Gibson 6-2 220 a 3rd year starter on the Defensive Line will also see some time on Offensive Line.
The Defense, like the coach said, can become a really good unit in 2025. I like the Defensive front coming back lead by LB Horacio Robertson 6-1 195 big time Athlete, DE Chaiden Gibson 6-2 220, DT Rondell Johnson 6-2 275 had a good Spring, LB/TE Gabriel Joyner 5-10 185 2nd year starter, LB Logan Roy 5-9 185 a new starter, and 2 way starter LB/ Blaize Mouton 5-8 200 a new starter.TE Brody Trahan will also see some time at Defensive End to help the Defense at certain times. All of the Defensive Backs are starters above on Offense as WR’s or RB’s, 2 2-way starters.
Special Teams returning to start at Long Snapper will be Austin Judice. Kicker & Punter will be determined by Fall practice for the team.
St. Thomas More Cougars
Head Coach:Jim Hightower(40th year)
2024 Record:8-4
2024 Playoffs:1st Round beat St. Augustine HS,2nd Round lost to Edna Karr HS
2023 Record:14-0.State Champions.
Key players Graduated: RB Gabe Mocek(Tulane), WR John Barton, DB Brian Broussard Jr,13 interceptions in the last 2 years combined(, DB Gavin Duplechin, Safety/LB Nico Blanchard, TE Aiden Falgout(UL Lafayette), DT Ethan Baer, LB Ayson Hollier, WR Cade Wilkerson, DE Andrew Ritz, DE/DT Brock Arceneaux, DE Reed Dupuis, WR Jacob Froelich, OL Ryan Brungart, WR/PR Parker Castille, LB Zach Griazzaffi, DE Coleman Inzerella, RB Dane Fossier, OL Ethan Potier, OL Rowan Cline, OL Adrian Rodriguez, OL Everett Foard, OLB Oliver Allen.
Team Outlook: Our team's off-season was strong, like past teams of our culture, we have here commitment, and hard-working players, which involves details in everything, which will lead to success. Our motto is (Non-Negotiable) when it comes to commitment this year. We have a very tough schedule in 2025, playing teams early like Carencro High School, Catholic HS of Baton Rouge, Acadiana High School, Neville High School, and Westgate High School. We will have some growing pains with some new starters early on, but we feel good about where we are as a program going into the 2025 season said Head Coach Jim Hightower.”
Tidbits: Head Coach Jim Hightower will be going into his 40th year as the Head Coach of St. Thomas More High School. His 1st year was 1986, and the school was started in 1982. Coach Hightower has 5 State Championships at St. Thomas More High School, and one at Catholic of Pointe Coupee High School.STM has made the playoffs 36 years in a row and should be there again for 37 straight years in 2025. Incredible record by coach Hightower and his coaches over the years and currently. Coach Hightower has also won 25 District Championships at ST. Thomas More High School with 378 wins at STM and a career record of 482 wins, which puts the coach as one of the top active career coaches for wins in the United States. Coach was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
The Offense will return an experienced 2024 All-District QB in Cole Bergeron, 6-4, 215 pounds. Cole has a cannon arm, and with a year under his belt, I think he will have his best year in 2025. Bergeron threw for 16 touchdowns in his 1st year in 2024. The WR room will be 3 deep at each spot with a strong rotation of players. The starting WRs are #1 go to player Christian Breaux 6-2 185 lettered in 2024, WR Aiken Bond 6-0 175 4.5 speed in the forty, and Slot/WR Jared Quoyeser 5-9 170 SR new starter. Several players will rotate in, like WR Rafi Tamarillo 5-9 170 SR, WR Blake Caillet 5-6 160 SR, WR Carter Meaux 6-0 180 SR, WR AJ Rantz 6-0 180 SR, WR Kyle Guillot 6-0 165 SR, and WR Landon Stevens 5-6 155 SR. One more player who will get minutes at WR will be QB Michael LaCour III, 6-4, 185, who could be the QB of the future in 2026. The Cougars like to use Tight Ends in the Offense and will be led by starter Mason Mouton, 6-0, 200 SR, with William Hawkins and Aiden Le Bouef getting reps also. The Offensive Line will be one of the best in many years depth and size wise leade by OG Tyler Ritz 6-4 300 2nd year starter, Center Mason Sherill 6-1 260 2nd year starter, OT Braxton Latiolais 6-2 225 SR, OG Gray Shivers 6-0 210 SR, and OT Jayden Brown 6-3 250. The Cougars also have some OL that can rotate in as Seniors when needed: OT Andrew Broussard 5-9 210, OG Ben Angelle 5-9 235, OG Ethan Dartez 6-0 210, and Center Joe Angers 5-11 225. The run game will return a player who played a Hawkinss and a lot in 2024 at RB. Carter Melancon will be the starter at 5-6, 175 pounds, rushing for 467 yards with 5 touchdowns in 2024. Getting reps at RB also will be Alex Manuel, 5-6, 170 SR, and Owen Bailey, 5-8, 185, all players who got playing time in 2024.
The Defense lost a lot of experience from last year, but returns experience in the front seven to build around. The Defensive Line has a lot of experience back to ancor the unit lead by DE Cayden Dartez 79 tackles with 2 sacks in 2024, DT Conner McAtee 5-10 280 48 tackles with 1.5 sacks in 2024, DT Austin Pellerin 5-11 230,29 tackles with 1 sack, MLB Ian Holeman 6-0 205 new starter had 12 tackles in 2024, MLB Tristan Klock 5-9 200 new starter, DE Drew Voorhies 6-0 210 new starter lettered in 2024, OLB Sawyer Roberts 5-11 185 new starter, and OLB Landon Bienvenu 5-10 200 new starter lettered in 2024. The Defensive Backfield will be young overall, but return one of the best Defensive Backs in Louisiana, Safety/FS Landen Ortte, 6-2, 198 big time hitter, and can cover. More starters at DB are CB Xarian Babineaux, 5-11, 180 new starter, and CB John David, 5-9, 160, a new starter.
The Defense will rotate several players in who will play as much as some starters DE Reagan Barrios 5-11 195 SR, DT Harrison deClouet 6-2 230, DT Henry Bush 5-11 230, DE Hayden Hemard 6-0 210, MLB Heath Hernandez 5-10 185, MLB Walker Pugh, OLB Casey Meaux 5-9 180, OLB Hayes Guidry 6-0 190, FS Cooper Citron 5-10 160, CB Henry Chachere 5-10 168, CB Owen Giglio 6-0 172, and CB Brennan Leblanc 5-9 165.
Special Teams, always a strength for the Cougars, will return Kicker Tyler Dillis, 5-11 160, and Punter Christian Breaux. Dillis made 37/40 extra points in 2024 in 10 games, and Punter Breaux had a long punt of 58 yards with an average close to 37 yards per punt. In the return game, two players return with experience. Kick Return Carter Melancon averaged 29 yards per Kickoff Return in 2024, and also back Brennan Leblanc got experience in Kickoff Returns. Look for some younger players to be added for this, or some of the WRs will probably do some of the Punt Return.
Teurlings Catholic Rebels
Head Coach:Mikey Courville(1st year)
2024 Record:10-2
2024 Playoffs:
2023 Record:9-4. 1st Round beat Madison Prep HS, 2nd Round beat E.D White HS,3rd Round lost to Lafayette Christian HS
Key players Graduated:DB Kaleb Daniels(Arkansas Monticello),RB Doug Viltz(Arkansas Monticello),OT Gresham Perry 2025 District Offensive MVP(Tulane),DE/LB Jack Purser(Nich State),DE Reed Broussard,OL Jase Serrette,P/K Charlie Mader
Team Outlook: Experienced group coming back.Aiming to take the next step behind the Class of 2026 players. We will have another physical team said Head Coach Mikey Courville.”
Tidbits: The Rebels return 6 Offensive Starters and 5 Defensive Starters, and 25 total lettermen return in 2025. The new hire was a long-term hire in Mikey Courville. Mikey played football for Teurlings Catholic HS back in the day and is only 30 years old. Coach Courville also did a great job recently coaching Defensive Backs at Catholic High School of Baton Rouge, where the Defensive Back position was one of the strongest spots for Catholic High School the last 2 years. I think Coach Courville will do a great job and has a ton of experience for such a young head coach in Class 4A. I had a chance to visit with the coach at the school when the season was over, and really impressed with his energy and knowledge as a young coach already.
The Offense lost some key players but also returns a lot of key players in 2025. The program has a nice problem with 2 returning QBs with college ability, Alex Munoz, 5-11, 190, started every game in 2024, did a great job with 2,001 total yards,1,445 yards passing,556 yards rushing,16 touchdowns,70 percent completion rate, and just 2 interceptions. Munoz can run a legit 4.6 forty, and has a good arm as a Dual/QB. Then you have SR A.J... Price 6-3 185 would start for most teams in Louisiana, and will get some reps in the Offense, and will be recruited like Munoz by colleges. The Offense will return a new starter at RB, but a player who played a lot in 2024, Cason Evans, 5-6, 175, has speed and experience with no dropoff to the position in 2025. The rest of the RB position will be a group of players rotating in SR Eli Deboisblanc 5-5 155, RB EJ Granger, and RB James Benoit. The WR unit returns most of the players and will be a strong spot in 2025 lead by SR Andrew Viator a big-time playmaker, 5-9 160, playmaker 2024 All District WR Nick Celestine, 5-11 180 SR, WR Ian Schwander, 6-0 185 SR, and WR Quinn Simon, 6-0 180 SR. The Offensive Line will be strong again lead by SR 4 year starter 2024 All District OL Drake Perry 6-1 300 pounds leader, OT Jack Matthews 6-0 270 SR leader, Center Joshua Burrows 5-9 220 SR, OT Thomas Cramer 6-3 245 leader SR, and OL Colston Olivier 6-2 270 SR.
The Defense returns some very experienced players and, like the Offense, some special players, but returns enough players with experience to be a great unit again. You have leaders back like 2024 All District DE Andrew Fruge 6-0 210, LB Carter Macha 6-1 190, DE Jack Snyder 6-2 200, MLB Jaxon Broussard 5-10 210 SR, DE/DT Lucas Guidry 6-0 230, FS Alec Castille 5-10 170 SR, Safety Luke Hebert 5-9 155, and LB Seth Miller 6-0 195. More players who look to step up in 2025 are DE Joseph Hamilton 6-4 210, Safety Maddox Domingue, CB Kaden Chavis, LB Christian Meaux, and DT Jude Smith 5-11 230. Starting Offensive Lineman Drake Perry will also get a few reps on the Defensive Line, like he did in 2024, as the team's iron man player.
Special Teams, the starting Kicker & Punter will be Logan Boudreaux, 5-10 170 SR, and the Long Snapper will be Colin Mire, 5-8 160.
Westgate Tigers
Head Coach:Ryan Antoine(13th year)
2024 Record:8-3
2024 Playoffs:2nd Round lost to Airline HS
2023 Record:2nd Round lost to Ruston HS
Key players Graduated: DB/WR Davian Jackson(Mississippi State), DE Evan Bryant(JC Football), SS/CB Amari Simon(San Bernardino Valley California JC), CB Jaboree Antoine(Miami),2024 District Defensive MVP LB Dy’traevous Lively, RB Tavias Gordon(Trinity Valley, Texas JC), Kicker Jake Thibodeaux, Athlete Peyton Knatt(San Bernardino, Ca JC), OC Jatyri Rankins(San Bernardino, Ca JC), TE/FB Gavin Hebert, DT A’trevion Netter(Trinity Valley, Texas JC), WR Bryant Leon(Blinn, Texas, JC)
Team Outlook: If we fail, we want to do it playing fast and learn from it early in 2025. As long as we give 100 percent effort, we have a chance to become a really good team in 2025 said Head Coach Ryan Antoine.”
Tidbits: The Tigers program has been stable for quite a few years under current Head Coach Ryan Antoine. The program won a State Title in 2021 and since then still competing at the highest level with young teams in both 2023 and 2024, with 2nd Round appearances an impressive feat considering how many college players this program has lost since 2021. Head Coach Ryan Antoine is also the school’s new assistant principal in 2025, along with being the head football coach.
The Tigers will return a really good group of speed at the skill spots with a nice room of linemen with experience. I think they can go back to the Semis-Finals again in 2025 with a chance to get to the title game in the end if they stay healthy come playoff time.
I met with coach Antoine and the players in May of 2025, and really impressed with the hard work they are putting in too.
Westgate High School will have two big-time Quarterbacks in 2025, and I can see both skill sets helping the team win like they did in 2021. New QB Brock Mitchell is 6-4 in height with ability and a big time arm, and then you have young and talented Dual Threat QB Noah Antoine can also play some WR, lettered there for the team in 2024, and some QB. It should be fun to watch both these kids run the Offense in 2025.
The program will return again some big-time skill players with speed, starting with 2024 All District Trandin Benjamin 5-11 186 SR, returning starter, 2 2-way starter, both RB/Safety. Benjamin had 100 tackles in 2024,4 interceptions,9 tackles for loss, and 7 Sacks in 2024, and on Offense had 169 yards rushing with 8 touchdowns as an RB. Also back will be big time Safety Ma’Kai Wells 6-1 186 SR 22 tackles,6 tackles for loss,1 interception and 2nd Team All District in 2024, DB/FS leader John Dauterive Jr is back 6-1 165 SR big time hitter and makes a lot of the Defensive calls coach on the field for the team, WR/DB Cayden Wayne Lancelin 6-0 180, CB/Safety Shadon Lee 5-11 160, CB Caleb Clement 5-10 170, RB/OLB Cameron James Crockern 5-9 170 new starter, WR Jackilon Robertson 5-11 160 4.45 speed, WR/Safety Rahim Alem 6-1 160, TE Jaiden Livingston 6-0 230,2024 All District CB Jayden Dwyer 5-11 185 All District in 2024 leader, RB/OLB Dex Washington 6-1 220 will have a bigger role in the Offense in 2024, and WR/CB Joshua John 5-7 165 with 4.45 speed in the forty.
The Tigers are still talented in the trenches and at LB with players like DE/OLB Chance Archangel, 6-4 23,0 with 4.5 speed in the forty. All District in 2024 as a Freshman,33 tackles,14 tackles for losses,7 Sacks, and fumble recoveries as a Freshman in 2024.Also back is 2024 All District DT Lenord Howard Jr 6-1 280 40 tackles,3 Sacks,9 tackles for loss in 2024, DE/DT Jason Dominique 5-11 215 returning starter leader, OL Keiyon Reno 6-1 280, DE/TE Rhylen Collins 6-4 200,2024 All District OT Lloyd Vital 6-2 245 All District in 2024, OL Verkarillo Charles 6-0 295, OL Jimmy Huynh 6-0 340, and OL/DL Daylon Doucet 5-10 215.
Special Teams, both the Kicking and Punting duties, will be addressed more during the Summer & early Fall to see who will start at those spots. Long Snapper will be TE Jaiden Livingston.
