The Rams will return a lot of production with a new QB in 2025. The new QB will be Leonard Watson, a high-IQ smart kid who already knows the Offense going in as a new starter, which will help a lot. Tidbits: Head Coach Frank Daggs, these past 25 years or so, has been known as one of the best Defensive Line coaches in high school football. Coach Daggs has only been the head coach of McDonogh 35 High School for 6 years, but he’s been a coach at the school since 2003. Coach learned from one of the best coaches at the high school level, the late great Wayne Reese, whom Coach Daggs coached for 17 years at 35. Coach does an incredible job developing these young men into football players, and again, I think one of the best in the game currently in Louisiana. Coach Daggs is an alumnus of St. Augustine High School and a college graduate of Nicholls State University.
The Offense will have a lot of new starters at the skill positions, starting with new starting QB Deddrick Peters, 6-0, 175 pounds, who has a chance to be a good player in time. The run game has returning two players with a lot of experience from the 2024 season: RB Avery Anderson, 5-7, 160 pounds, and RB Bryce LaMark, 5-8, 185 pounds. These two players will rotate in for the run game, and both will get the ball a lot. The Offensive Line returns starters All District in 2024, Chase Bolton 6-1, 250, 3 3-year starter, All District in 2024 OL Jacob Jones 5-10, 270, a 2nd year starter, and OL Center Kenneth Thomas 5-10, 280, a 3-year starter. New starting Tight End Kam Calvin, 6-5 225, will have a chance to show his talents for the first time in 2025.
The Defense will be led by Defensive Back Justin Ross, a 2024 Hon Mention All-State All-District player in 2024 with seven interceptions last year at 5-10, 175 pounds. The Defensive Line will have new starter DT Thomas Leon 5-10 255, new starter Wyjay Smith 5-10 245, 2nd year starter Cornell Irvin 6-0 230 SR, and DE/OLB Eric Veal 6-2 215, 2nd year starter, leading the team in Sacks in 2024. The Linebacking group, everyone is new, and this is a spot where it will be the youngest position in terms of experience on the team. New starters at LB are Cameron Banks, 5-10 185, and LB Eric Martin, 6-1 185. The Defensive Backfield also has some spots open after Spring, but they do return CB Gerad Dugue 5-8 150, a new starter, DB Randon Robinson 5-10 165, a new starter, and the best player on Defense returns in DB Justin Ross.
