Jennings Bulldogs

Head Coach:Bret Fuselier(3rd year) 

2024 Record:9-2

2024 Playoffs:2nd Round lost to Opelousas HS

2023 Record:9-4.Quarterfinals lost to Cecillia HS

Key players Graduated: RB/SS Rejohn Zeno, 2024 District Offensive MVP(Southern U), Athlete Jamell Davis(Centenary), DE/LB Davion Edwards(William & Jefferson), RB/WR Ryan Reed, K/P Peyton Herpin, OL Liam Leblanc, OL D’sel Palfrey, LB Brayden Guidry, LB Brandon Hobson.

Team Outlook: Like the attitude guys we have going into year three at Jennings HS. Everyone knows everyone well. Every player knows the system in and out with a great attitude to work hard as a team said Head Coach Bret Fuselier.”

Tidbits: The strength of the team will be at the skill positions in 2025. There will be a few battles for open spots on the Offensive & Defensive Lines over the Spring/Summer.

The program has some special players back to build around in WR/SS Humphrey Ned 5-9 185 SR 4 year starter 2024 All State, MVP of the District on Defense in 2024 with 4 Sacks,5 caused fumbles,2 interceptions,23 tackles for losses,116 total tackles, QB/FS Chris Ned 6-0 165 Hon Mention All State, All District in 2024, a 3 year starter,2024 All District RB/WR Gerald Watson III 5-10 170 4 year starter with 4.45 speed in the forty, FB/DE Da’John Zeno 5-11 190 3 year starter, and DT/OL Nate Broussard 6-2 290 SR 3 year starter All District in 2024. 

More players in the program that will need to have big years in 2025 are OT Ayden Leger 6-0 220 2nd year starter, CB Gage Mouton, FB/RB/LB William Leblanc 2nd year starter, OL Ashtyn Fruge 5-11 180 new starter, FB/DT Zion Leonard 6-1 210 new starter, FB/LB Derrick Smith 5-10 170 new starter, WR Bryson Hargrave 5-9 150 new starter, RB Marquel Gordon new starter, CB Daimen Guidry 5-9 160, and WR/CB Armonte Jones new starter.

Special Teams, the Bulldogs will have a new Kicker/Punter, and the leading candidate to start will be William Leblanc for the fall. The return game will be one of the best in the state with the return of 2024 All District Kick Returner Humphrey Ned.

Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers

Head Coach:Erick Franklin(11th year)

2024 Record:6-6

2024 Playoffs:1st Round beat McKinley HS,2nd Round lost to John F. Kennedy HS.

2023 Record:5-7.1st Round beat Pope John Paul II,2nd Round beat Catholic New Iberia HS,3rd Round lost to University Lab HS

Key players Graduated: WR Alijah Pete, DB Khel Arvie, LB/DE Lamarion Armstead, RB Allen Botley, Safety/CB Braylon White, OT Gary Durniseau, DT Kason Graham, Safety/CB Careion Franklin(Iowa Western JC), Safety Cameron Brazzle, Kicker Jonathan Martin, OC Micah Louis, OL Jeremiah Freeman(Blinn, Texas JC)

Team Outlook: You are what you do. I tell them all the time to the kids. The work you put in is usually the results you will get in anything you do said Head Coach Erick Franklin.”

The 2025 Lake Charles Prep Offense will be one of the most talented units the school has had, and they have had some great skill talent over the years, with big Offensive Lines.QB Dylan Vital 6-2 200 returns with a big arm and LB type size to lead this team in 2025.One of the most talented playmakers returns in All District 2024 WR Ayden Carter 5-7 175 with 4.5 speed in the forty, WR Caiden Jones 5-11 175 2nd year starter, WR Christian Manuel 6-0 180, WR Myles Simon 5-9 175, RB starter Phillip Hunter 5-11 175, RB Jeffrey Nevels 5-8 170, and HB/FB Kylon Guillory 5-10 180. The Offensive Line will be led by SR Myles Joseph 6-4 310 recovered from an injury in 2024, big time player 3 year starter, OG Caron Henderson 6-0 290, leader 3 year starter, OL Ayden James 5-10 265, OL Tristan Rogers 5-10 225, and OL Everette York 6-3 255.

The Defense will be talented like the Offense, with size and speed at all positions. The front seven will be lead by All District in 2024 Linebacker Brenden Malveaux 6-1 205 a 3 year starter leader with 4.65 speed in the forty, OLB Benjamin Williams 6-0 185 2nd year starter, MLB Elijah Frank 6-0 200 3 year starter, DT Ian Pete 5-9 215 2nd year starter, DE Kellen Ford 6-1 195 big time Athlete 2nd year starter, DE Elijah Williams 6-0 200, and DT Davin Washington 6-0 225. The Secondary will be one of the best in the Lake Charles area lead by one of the fastest players in Louisiana CB Kai Fontenot 5-8 150 2nd year starter 4.4 speed in the forty, CB Josiah Oliver 5-10 160, Safety David Thomas 6-2 175, Safety Brendon Reed 6-1 170, and some younger talented players rotating in for depth.

Special Teams will be open at Kicker & Punter going into the Summer/Fall.

South Beauregard Knights

Head Coach:Brad Kellogg(2nd year)

2024 Record:6-5

2024 Playoffs:1st Round lost to Brusly HS 

2023 Record:2-8

Key players Graduated: QB/P Christian Wold(Had over 2,700 yards Offense in 2024), LB Chris Milner, SS/LSP Kade Jackson, WR Cy Barrow, OT Draye Reeves, OT/DT Mikel Stanley, OT/DT Noah Rockwell.

Team Outlook: We lost 17 seniors from a year ago. We do have a few kids who have experience in 2024. Most of our players back did not start on Friday night in 2024, so we will be expecting these young guys to step up for us in 2025. I am excited about our Defense. We have most of our starters back on the Defense side of the football. This group coming back only lost 2 JV games the past 2 years combined said Head Coach Brad Kellogg.”

The Offense will be led by a new starting QB, Walker Langston, who got experience in 2024 as a backup. Walker will be asked to run and pass in this Offense. Walker has the chance to be a very good QB. Also back on Offense will be 2nd team All District RB Jacob Marchantel 5-10 190 SR, who had 600 yards receiving,400 yards rushing, and will cross-train to be able to play some QB if the team needs him there in 2025. Marchantel returns as a 3-year starter. The Offensive Line and Tight End’s have a chance to be good in 2025 lead by OL/DL Logan Drounett 5-10 205, OG Isaiah Lampton 5-10 210 SR, OL Eli Benoit 6-0 230, OL Joseph Fargue 6-3 270, TE Logan Parker 6-4 215, and TE Noah Royer 6-4 215. In the passing game, you will have 2-way starters WR/DB Kenny Batchelor, 5-8, 150, 2nd year starter, RB/LB Grant Crawford, 5-10, 195, WR/DB Caleb Lemieu,x 5-1,0, 16,5, 3-year starter, and new RB Parker Rockwell.

The Defense will be led by 2-time All-District Defensive Tackle Brody Shooter Soileau, 6-3 280 SR, and a 3-year starter. He is the glue of the Defense. You also will have LB Alexandre Baggett 5-9 190 2nd year starter, DT Dawson Barrow 6-2 280 SR 3 year starter, Safety Mason Richards 5-8 160 a 2nd year starter, LB Bellard, and DB Jonah Olivier will rotate in.

Special Teams, you have Alexandre Baggett as the Kicker & Noah Royer will also compete for the job as the Punter.

St. Louis Catholic Saints

Head Coach:Chris Truax(1st year)

2024 Record:1-10 

2024 Playoffs:1st Round lost to Northlake Christian HS

2023 Record:8-3

Key players Graduated: OG/DT Devin Kee, DB Kaleb Lanthier, Kicker/Punter Zachry Sugandi Truitt, WR Clay Williams, RB Tri Do, OT/DT Colton Guillory, OG Luke Trahan, TE Nathan Ughovwa.

Team Outlook: We have a pretty good staff.All about great staff, development, and building from the ground up. Build it like a college program said Head Coach Chris Truax.”

Tidbits: Head Coach Chris Truax has one heck of a resume as a college coach for several years at ULM, McNeese State, Northwestern State, and Stephen F. Austin.Coach Truax coached Special Teams, Defensive Line, Offensive Line, and Offensive Coordinator all in college, so he knows the whole field for positions. Coach Truax is a graduate of (LSU Class of 1991. Coach was a part of the LSU 1988 SEC Title team as a 4-year letterman on the Offensive Line. Coach Truax is a graduate of Richardson, Texas, High School and played Defensive Tackle in High School. His 1st coaching job was at Christian Life High School in Baton Rouge from 1993 to 1994. Coach talked about a great staff in place at St. Louis High School, and one of those assistants will be a high school legend from Barbe High School, Trey Quinn, coaching the Wide Receivers. Quinn signed with LSU but had a great career with SMU and played in the NFL.

You will see half the starters start both sides of the football when needed in 2025. Here are some great 2 way players back for the Saints WR/FS B.J Willis 5-11 190 SR 2nd year starter, RB/MLB Josh Carrier 6-1 220 2nd year starter LB but 1st year as a RB, LB/RB Ty Willis 5-10 180 SR, new starting Quarterback Connor Boudreaux 6-2 200, CB/RB McKylin Carrier 5-9 180, TE/DE Holden Bertrand 6-2 220, and TE/DE Alex McCall 6-3 240. More skill players to look for are WR Brice Foreman 5-9 160, WR Harrison Hurt 6-0 160, WR Trace Moreau 6-0 170, Safety Kullen Miller 5-10 160, and CB Hayden Hill 5-10 170 2nd-year starter.

The Saints also have some talented Lineman back on both sides of the football in 2025 starting with DT Kyle Lebato 6-0 260 strongest player on the team big time force in the middle of the Defense, OT/OG Dayton Roland 6-3 250, OG/OL Lane Cryer 6-0 230, DT Jacob Carrier 6-0 300, OL/DT Austin Hebert 6-3 230 new starter, and OL/OC Richard Edwards 5-10 195 converted from Linebacker a 1st year starter.LB Matthew Hebert is another player to keep an eye on as a 2nd year starter coming back on Defense at 5-11, 182 pounds.

Special Teams is always a strength for this program, and in 2025 will be one of the best in the State again. Kicker will be Will Fa, 6-2, 190, 1st year starter, great talent, and Long Snapper, also a great talent, will be Clayton Powell, 6-3, 180 pounds.WR Brice Foreman is also a good Kicker and will help.

Westlake Rams

Head Coach:John Richardson(7th year)

2024 Record:7-5

2024 Playoffs:2nd Round lost to Kinder HS

2025 Record:3-8.1st Round lost to Bogalusa HS

Key players Graduated: WR Kevin Rideau Jr(McNeese State), WR/RB Ryan Allen(McNeese State), DE Jace Hayes, DE Avan Breaux, SS Quinton Guillory, CB Josh Twiggs, Safety/WR Kaden Hasty. 

Team Outlook: Even though we have 16 starters coming back, we are still trying to establish depth for the team, both on Offense and Defense. Lost two key players from last year, both Wide Receivers, and 6 players graduated, but all key players to the program to replace. Players will have to step up in 2025 said Head Coach John Richardson.

Tidbits: Head Coach John Richardson is an Alum of Pickering High School(Class 1990). Coach Richardson graduated from McNeese State in Lake Charles.Coach Richardson led Welsh High School to a State Championship in Football in 2017. Coach won 64 games from 2023-2018 at Welsh High School. Westlake High School, after talking to Coach Rochardson, had right under 500 students during Spring for the total students at the school.

The Offense will be one of the most underrated in the State in 2025 for Class 3A. The Rams return a 2024 All District 4 year starting QB Brody Anderson, 6-3, 195 pounds(Over 2,000 yards passing with over 600 yards rushing in 2024. Anderson, I had a chance to see in a game and person at a practice in 2024, and I was super impressed with his arm, smarts, and leadership. The Offense also returns one of the best Offensive Lineman in the Lake Charles area, 2024 All District 4-year starter Hadley Hardesty, 6-5, 265. The run game returns RB Braylon Garrick 5-8 190, a 3-year starter who ran for 800 yards in 2024 and in 2023 had 858 yards rushing. The Passing game will return 3-year starter WR Peyton Kile 5-8 175 SR, the fastest player on the team with 4.45 speed in the forty. Also back on Offense at skill spots, keep an eye on WR Derek Thompson 6-0 165, HB Dax Duhon 5-9 190, a newcomer, RB Malkye Carter 5-8 160, and RB Joseph James 5-7 150. The rest of the Offensive Line with Hardesty will be Dallas Taylor, 5-8 245, one of the strongest kids on the team, OC Luke Lemaire, 6-3 290, 3 3-year starter, and OL Brady Roy, 5-8 195, another 3-year starter.

The Defense will also have some experence back lead by  DE/MLB Cooper Cryer 5-8 185 3 year starter,2024 All District DE/DT Cooper Williams 5-10 240 3 year starter, LB/RB Brady Duplechin 5-10 175 3 year starter and will play some RB on Offense, CB/Safety RJ Lavan Jr 5-10 170 3 year starter.

More players to look for on Defense are CB Kameron Hasty 5-9 160 a great Athlete missed the 2024 season with injury, FS/SS Austin Clophus 5-10 165 playmaker good in coverage, OLB Brayden Ellzey 5-8 170 tough player, DT Ben McDaniels 5-11 240 a newcomer with a lot of upside, LB Sam Fontenot 6-0 200 a big time player in the program, and DE Jack Gaynard 5-9 190 will rotate in on the front seven.

Special Teams, the starting Punter returning will be QB Brody Anderson. Anderson has a good leg and does a good job at this position, too.
