Class & District: Class 2A (District 3)

The Lakeview Gators off to a decent start with a 3-2 record and are coming off a tough 44-38 loss to Delta Charter In two of Lakeview's wins, the Gators scored scored 58 and 60 points in the first three games in 2023. They will definitely eclipse their win total from last season.

The quarterback is Lamarion Rushing (6-0, 165) with a good arm and good feet in the pocket. The rest of the team for skill players will all get a chance to score Touchdowns for coach Boone with players like RB/MLB Kaleb Collins (5-10, 205, Sr.), who ran for 365 yards in 2022 and I think will go over 1,000 in 2023. There’s also RB Omarion Pier (5-9, 165), FB Brendan Young (5-10, 210) who has power, RB/SS Zantaviuos McKinney (6-0, 175), RB/LB/DE Michael Banks (5-10, 205, CB/ATH Kelton Carter and CB/ATH Kylin Collins.

The key lineman and linebackers back in the program are OL Ryan Hubbard (5-10, 280), OL Jordan Kirts (6-2, 280, Sr.), DT/OT Malek Lewis (5-9, 230), center Caden Alexander (5-8, 200), DE/OG Loden Riddle (6-2, 215), TE/LB Amania Green (5-11, 240), TE Kenlynn Jackson (5-10, 220), OLB Jordan Reilford (5-11, 170) and DT Juan Rosales (5-8, 215).

New Lakeview High School head coach Andy Boone spent the last 14 years as head coach at Avoyelles High School and set many records in points scored and yards every year without punting or kicking in a game. Coach Boone won 87 games at Avoyelles and he will bring this program to new heights. Just give him time and so far he’s doing good.

His teams at Avoyelles averaged 50 points a game and over 6,500 rushing yards in one season. Coach Boone graduated from Oberlin High School (Class of 1986) and played football for two years at McNeese State.

Lakeview only has two seniors on the football team in 2023. The program has been to the playoffs only one time in the last 10 years.
