Church Point High School has had a lot of success over the past three years as the Bears have won 10-plus games in those three years, including two semifinal appearances in 2020 and 2021. However, the Bears have entered unfamiliar territory as they have started 0-3 with all three of their losses coming against three really good programs in Eunice, Kinder and Rayne which is a brutal stretch of games for almost anybody in this state.

The Bears will be led by first-year head coach William Poole who was previously the defensive coordinator the last three years under long-time Church Point head coach John Arceneaux who retired after last season and is someone I think should be in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. Poole was previously the head coach at Lafayette High School from 2016-2019.

The offense will run a two-quarterback system with Luke Raboin (6-0, 180) and All-District MVP QB/RB Jaden Reese (6-2, 235, 4.5 speed) for Church Point High School. Reese will be a jack-of-all-trades player for the program he means a lot to this team. The program also has talented RB Da’Marion Guy (5-7, 200), new starter RB Dawson Stelly (5-6, 170, Sr.) who transferred to Church Point from Opelousas Catholic, new starter, RB/CB Jaheim Moore (5-7, 160) and second-year starter RB/FS Tyrease Boast (5-7, 165). At the offensive line you have OT Gavin Benoit (6-0, 255, Sr.) a four-year starter leader, OG Carter Fontenot (6-0, 250, Sr.) and OT Braxton Leblanc (6-2, 270) will all back to lead this line in 2023. You also have TE Bryce Lejeune (6-0, 185, Sr.) who can help block as well.

The defense also has back DE second-year Braxton Meche (5-8, 240, Sr.), second-year starter DT Wyatt Daigle (5-6, 240, Sr.), LB Damarrion Guy (5-8, 200, Sr.), LB Gage Carrier (5-9, 175, Sr.), CB two-way starter Jaheim Moore, two-way starter FS Tyrease Boast, two-way starter MLB Da’Marion Guy (5-7, 200, Sr.), second-year starter SS Chad Brooks (5-11, 170) who had a team-high four interceptions in 2022 and CB Blathon Citizen (5-9, 170).
