Class of 2027 SS/OLB Gavin Cooper Jr, is a versatile athlete who has all the potential in the world to become one of the top players in the state of Louisiana. Standing at 6’0 and weighing 204 pounds, Cooper has a good frame along with his talents and looks forward to having an impressive senior season.

This past season as a junior, Cooper recorded 86 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 4 pass breakups, and an interception. Whether in coverage or coming downhill making tackles, Cooper shows he can be a difference maker in a football game making plays all over the field.

As far as his team goes, Cooper elaborated on how much it means to play for his team stating it’s “fun and sensational” while also adding “I love being a Raider and I couldn’t imagine being a part of any other program.” Cooper’s love and dedication to his school symbolizes not only his loyalty but his leadership skills to his coaches, teammates, and the community,

According to Lee Brecheen, Cooper is a very impressive athlete with tremendous upside as a player stating, “He’s one of the best safeties in the city of New Orleans and is a tough and high effort kid.”

Cooper currently holds 11 college offers and talks to most of the schools often while also striving for more stating he’s still trying to find a place to call home. In the classroom, Cooper holds a 3.3 GPA with a 21 ACT score and plans to major in kinesiology. 

Athletic ties run deep in the family as Cooper’s dad played football as St. Augustine High School.

With his physicality, versatility, and relentless effort on the field, Gavin Cooper Jr. continues to establish himself as one of Louisiana’s rising defensive prospects in the Class of 2027. As he prepares for his senior season, his recruitment and reputation across the state could continue to rise.
