Arcadia Hornets

Head Coach:Taylor Perron(2nd year)

2024 Record:4-7

2024 Playoffs:1st Round lost to West St. John HS

2023 Record:7-4.1st Round lost to General Trass HS.

Key players Graduated: CB/QB Rodtravious Jackson, CB/WR Darrell SneedJr Jr. (Louisiana Tech), RB/LB Tayshaun Johnson, FB/RB Ian Fitzgerald, LB Jordan Hartwell, OC/DE Joseph Salvaterra, RB/CB Brateviauntae Ferrell.

Team Outlook: We will have an Odd Front on Defense in 2025, and Offense will have more power, running the ball more. Our Defensive Line will be young. We only had 28 players when we made the playoffs in 2024. We are up to 40 players total for the Summer said Head Coach Taylor Perron.

The young Offense will be led by returning starters RB Ja’Cameron Smith, a very good back, WR Braylon Harrell, a talented young player, and 2-way lineman Christopher Harris, 6-1, 255, a new starter who will help the Offense a lot.

The Defense will build around DT Demarcus Harris, lettered in 2024, 5-11 190, LB Justin Nelson, 5-9 170, with 4.6 speed good tackler, Safety Marcavious Roane, 6-1 160, lettered in 2024, and DB Khalil Abney, 6-1 170, also lettered in 2024, a new starter.

Special Teams will have a new Kicker in Darrin Baxter, but this kid has a good enough leg to win games that are close for the program in 2025.

Cedar Creek Cougars

Head Coach:Jacob Angevine(1st year)

2024 Record:1-9

2024 Playoffs:  No

2023 Record:4-6.1st Round lost to Catholic Pointe Coupee HS

Key players Graduated: WR/SS Nolan Martin, WR/CB James Myers, OL Landon Hall

Team Outlook: I love the community here at Cedar Creek HS. Cedar Creek HS is family. The team is excited since I was hired. I know the players trust me, having been on staff since 2015 and going full-time in 2018. I’ve known most of these kids since coaching them all the way back in Junior High Football. We will have some kids that are new coming out for the first time football, which is exciting. We dressed in the 2024 season, end 32 to 33 players, and in 2025, we should have as many as 40 to 45 total players on the football team said Head Coach Jacob Angevine.”

Tidbits: I think this was a home run hire for someone who has waited for his opportunity to get a head coaching job. I remember covering coach Angevine when he was a football player for Captain Shreve HS in Shreveport, La, class of 2014. Angevine went to college at Louisiana Tech in Ruston. Also, the team will have a QB competition through the Spring & Summer among 3 talented players.

The team will lean on some players who have experience in 2025. Here are players to look out for, with some players who will start on both sides of the football.TE/DE Blake Robinson a 4 year starter 6-3 245 All District 2 times in 2023 and 2024,  TE/OL/DL Bryce Martin 6-2 215 a 3 year starter All District player, OG/OC/OT/DT Kaden Williams 3 year starter, OC/DT Logan Canales 5-10 235 SR 2nd year starter, FB/LB/LSP Trigger Woodward 5-11 195 3 year starter, RB/LB Micah Taylor 2nd year starter, QB/FS Cason Floyd 5-8 155 2nd year starter,  DB/WR Eli Slocum 5-8 155 2nd year starter, QB/RB Hayden Durrett 5-11 165, OT/DE Vance Mallett 5-11 228 2nd year starter, CB/WR Ryder Sellers 2nd year starter, TE/MLB Noah Smith 5-10 220 2nd year starter, RB/SS Peyton Harris 5-10 160 2nd year starter, QB Brett Bell 6-2 218, OL/DL Eddie Henry 5-10 270 2nd year starter, OT/TE/DE Henry Patton 5-11 190 new starter, FB/TE/LB Gunner Fontenot 5-11 220 new starter, and OL/DE Logan Amidon 6-0 210 2nd year starter.

Special Teams Long Snapper will be Trigger Woodward, while the Kicking & Punting duties will be a battle over the Spring & Summer.

Coach is in his second stint as Head Coach of Glenbrook High School football first time was in 2012 as Glenbrook's head coach. Coach is a  South Arkansas native. Glenbrook only played 9 regular-season games in 2024.

The Apaches will be young overall in 2025. There will be several new starters in 2025 and a few players competing over the Summer and early Fall practice to win spots under a new coaching staff.

Haynesville Tornadoes

Head Coach:David Franklin(23rd year)

2024 Record:13-1

2024 Playoffs: State Title Game Runner Up to South Plaquemines HS

2023 Record:12-2. State Title Game lost to Oak Grove HS

Key players Graduated:2024 Hon Mention All State OLB/FB Byruss Burns,2024 Hon Mention All State DE Desmon Sturdivant,2024 All State/District Defensive MVP, OLB/TE Keizavion Woods(Hutchinson, Kansas JC),2024 2nd Team All State FS/RB Zykerius Fielding,2024 2nd Team All State TE/DE Jermarquis Hampton Jr,2024 All State OC/DT Germerian Williams, OL/DL Logan Childress, OL/LB Hunter Leblanc, RB/CB Jayden Green, CB/WR Gary McElroy

Team Outlook: We graduated some really good players from last year’s team. This was something my dad, Alton Franklin, was really good at: putting the best 11 players on the field at all times. Class 1A is a different animal; you have to have some special players willing to go start both sides of the football as a team every year. We will work on this Summer early Fall, filling some spots that are open position battles, said Head Coach David Franklin.”

Tidbits: Haynesville High School has 17 State Championships in the school’s history for football. Head Coach David Franklin has won 3 State Titles: 2009, 2013, 2014. Coach Franklin's record since 2022 is 36-6 with 2 State Title Appearances and one Semifinal, not bad at all for a Class 1A school. I think there will be an opportunity to go back for another shot at a State Title in 2025 if they can stay healthy. David Franklin's dad, Hall of Fame coach Red Franklin, was one of the best coaches to ever coach high school football. Coach Red led his teams to 15 State Title games,11 State Titles,366 wins with just 76 losses in 35 years as the Head Coach at Haynesville High School. Coach Red Franklin played college football at Alabama & Louisiana College, now Louisiana Christian in Pineville.

The program returns the best player from the 2023 and 2024 teams, 2024 All State as a Defensive Back, and Honorable Mention All State as a QB. Isiah Washington, 6-1 175, will be in his 4th year as a starter QB/FS for the program. Washington was All-State in 2023 & 2024. Has legit 4.59 speed in the forty and is a big-time leader and player on both sides of the football for the team.

Special Teams returns Kicker/Punter 2024 All State as a Punter, Elijah Bray, 6-0 195 SR, a 3-year starter long of 45 yards. Field Goal in 2024, and in 2023, made a 42-yard Field Goal. 90% of his Kickoffs go in the End Zone for touchbacks.

Jonesboro Hodge Tigers

Head Coach:Terrance Blankenship(14th year)

2024 Record:4-7

2024 Playoffs:1st Round lost to Grand Lake HS

2023 Record:4-7.1st Round lost to Ferriday HS

Key players graduated: WR/CB Christian McGuire, WR/DB Zmaryion Palmer.

Team Outlook: Great off-season in the weight room for our players. Spring Game, we play Madison HS. We should be strong on the Defensive Line. We had only 4 Seniors in 2024, and in 2025 will only have 9 Seniors said Head Coach Terrance Blankenship.”

Tidbits: The Tigers don't have the depth they had in the past, but still have great athletes and a really good coaching staff led by coach Blankenship, who is one of the longest tenured coaches at one High School in North Louisiana. Jonesboro Hodge High School has 7 State Titles in Football and 2 State Titles in Basketball. The Girls Track & Field Team won the 1st State Title in the school’s history in 2025.

Key players Graduated: WR/CB Cenario Wilson, LB Tyler Wimberly, RB Dtavion Wright, WR Jordan Brown, MLB/FB Sam Williams(Texas Southern), DE/TE Jamarion Pouncey, OL/DL Nicholas Coleman.

Team Outlook: We are trying to take ourselves seriously in 2025 and have a purpose. We are trying to create young men and apply it to your lives, and not just football. Turning young boys into grown men with this game of football said Head Coach Chaunce Davison.”

Tidbits: Head Coach Chaunce Davison, in 2016, coached the Offensive & Defensive Lines at Lincoln Prep High School. Then again, from 2022 to 2024 was the team’s Defensive Coordinator for Lincoln Prep High School. Coach Davis was born in Chicago, IL, but his parents are from Louisiana: Mom from Quitman, Louisiana, and Dad from Rayville, Louisiana. Coach Davison is an Alum of Lincoln Prep High School, then called Grambling High School(Class of 1997). Lincoln Prep High School graduated a large senior class in 2024 of 13 seniors. Only one lineman graduated from the 2024 team.

There will be a nice battle at Quarterback, really good competition among Zion Hicks, 6-4, 165 pounds, 2nd year QB with experience with 4.6 speed, really good Athlete, and then there’s new QB Jaquan Qualls, 6-0, 155, with 4.55 speed in the forty, and also could start at WR for the team.  Hicks also could start at WR if not the starting QB in 2025. Both kids are talented, and both will start for the team.

More players to keep a eye on are OG/DT Ryan Randolph 6-0 275 SR a 3 year starter leader, OL/DL Jacoby Jones 6-3 310 a 2nd year starter, OT/DT Nicholas Nelson 6-4 285 3 year starter, RB/LB Julen Huntley 5-4 155 a big time Athlete in space 4.45 speed, WR/FS Joseph Spann 6-2 160 a 2nd year starter, OL/DL Jordan Jones 6-4 350, OL/DL Dillon Nyshon 5-9 210 new starter, TE/HB Josiah Spann 5-11 165 a new starter, WR Cormelo Goings 6-3 155 new starter, LB Dexter Washington 6-0 180 new starter, OC Howard Killpatrick 5-8 170 new starter tough quick small lineman but plays big, and LB/OG/DT Javion Shelton 6-1 225 will rotate in both sides of the trenches for the team for depth.

Special Teams, both Kicker & Punter, is still wide open after Spring coach told me, and the Long Snapper should be Howard Killpatrick or Dillon Nyshon in their 1st year as a starter.

I want to build the program back up here at Plain Dealing High School. I am proud of the team for the offseason workouts. We have 3 seniors who have committed to the team and program the way we want to build this thing moving forward said Head Coach Jerry Byrd.

Plain Dealing the last 3 years did not win a football game. Plain Dealing High School only has 80 kids in the school total for the 2025 season, making it one of the smallest Class 1A teams in the state of Louisiana.

Two seniors, coach Byrd was talking about being 100% committed in the off-season, are RB/CB Jayden Ray, 5-6, 165 SR 2nd year starter, FB/OL/DT Jeremy Fisher, 6-1, 250. Tidbits: The program had only 27 players on the team in 2024 and improved, and in 2025, the program has added another 8 to 10 players for more depth to compete even more. A lot of the players will still start both sides of the football, but the future is bright for the program.
