Head Coach Lee Doty has three title appearances in six years at Sterlington, winning two in 2016 and 2021. That is not a bad stat to have as a head coach

“I like our team this season and the kids have worked hard because we have a bad taste in our mouths about how the season ended in 2022,” Doty said.

The offense will have a new quarterback in Dylan DOwns (5-10, 175, 4.65 speed). However, he is not new to the system and has a good arm when needed. The run game has one of the best in Class 3A returning in senior RB Trammell Colvin (5-8, 170) who ran for over 1,400 yards in 2022 with 4.5 speed and is a tough kid for his size. There’s also RB/WR/DB Devyn Downs (6-2, 180, 4.6 speed) who is a talented young player. He is already committed to LSU in baseball as a freshman. The offensive line will be led by one of the best in the State in three-year starter Mitch Hodnett (6-5, 300, Sr.) who has tons of pancake blocks in his career. The rest of the offense also has three-year starter senior OT Will Wactor three-year starter (6-3, 230), TE Sean McNair (6-1, 220), FB Gaven Evans (5-10, 190), WR/SS Travis Adams, OG Drew Whitlock (5-9, 265), two-year starter TE/DE Grayson Gilmore (6-2, 220), two-way starter RB/WR/SS/CB Hagen Herring (5-10, 170, 4.59 speed) and two-way starter FB/LB Cody Copeland (5-7, 170) who is an all-out leader and a captain for team.

The defense we mentioned some of the kids above but also back are MLB Jackson King 5-10 220 SR 3rd year starter leader, senior DT Kalib Evans (6-3, 275), DE/OLB Javarius Hymes (6-2, 195), senior DT Jack Moore (6-1, 265) who is a leader on this team, LB Dylan Underwood (6-0, 190) who is another all-out leader, MLB Tre Burch (6-1, 245) and others will make this a big-time defense again with size and speed.

The special teams return talented punter/kicker Aiden Parker (6-1, 170) who is a second-year starter and made 36 of his 38 extra point attempts in 2022.

A few players will play ball from last year's graduating class, including WR/DB John Barr signed with ULM, DE Kellan Hall will walk on at ULM, DE Charlie Robinson signed with Louisiana Tech. Some others will be walking on to s from a large senior class.
