Central Private Redhawks
Head Coach:Cole Holden(3rd year)
2024 Record:5-5
2024 Playoffs: No
2023 Record:3-8.1st Round lost to Ascension Catholic HS in the Playoffs.
Key players Graduated: Athlete Clayton Kimball(South Alabama Baseball), OL Timothy Hartman,2024 2nd Team All State OL Jacob Weaver,2024 Hon Mention All State RB Aiden Pomerleau.
Team Outlook: Have a good group of Seniors coming back in 2025. A lot of kids have been in the program for 3 years, and now it’s time to take the next step. Our team in 2024 scored the most points in a single season since 2006 said Head Coach Cole Holden.”
Tidbits: The Redhawks in 2024 scored the 2nd most points on Offense in a season since 2006. Enrollment is over 700 kids in 2025. Coach Holden told me he expects about 30 to 35 varsity players out for the Fall. Central Private High School will also have updated Locker Rooms and a Film Room in 2025 for the Football program. I attended the Spring game and was impressed with the improved team speed and the Offense. I was also impressed with the crowd for a Spring Game with over 400 people in attendance.
The Offense will have big playmakers back in RB/LB/Safety Laiken Laudermilk 6-1, 180 pounds, 3 3-year starter with legit 4.6 speed in the forty. Laudermilk had 1,200 yards rushing with 10 touchdowns in 2024. There is also WR/CB/RB Seth Hatfield 6-1 170 with 4.6 speed in the forty and looks faster on the field, a 4-year starter, and there is also QB Zach Browning 5-10 165 returning for his 2nd year as a starter. In the Spring game, I was also impressed with TE/WR/DE Brody Gibso, 6-3 190, who I think can be a big-time player in the program in 202on 5, both sides of the football.
On Defense Linebacker/Offensive Lineman SR Huxley Renard caught my eye as a big-time hitter, tackling machine all over the place, making tackles at 5-11 220 pounds. This kid will start as an Offensive Lineman and LB in 2025.
More players to keep a eye on in 2025 are CB/WR Briggs Peterson 5-10 160 a 3 year starter leader, OL Gabe Guillory 6-0 260 a 3 year starter tough kid in the trenches, DE Brayden Roy 6-1 215 2nd year starter missed the 2024 season, DT Joaquin Adams 5-9 180 new starter, OG Ben Sinclair 5-9 200, WR/CB Luke Mire 6-0 165, OL Beau Dutsch, OL Easton Sullivan, FB/LB Aiden White, FS/RB Ben Browning, and TE/OLB Zachary Shields 6-1 160 starter both sides of the football.
Special Teams, the starting Kicker will be All District in 2024,, Briggs Peterson, who will also handle both the Punting/Kicking positions for the team.
Kentwood Kangaroos
Head Coach:Cornelius Blount(2nd year)
2024 Record:10-4
2024 Playoffs: Semifinals lost to Vermillion Catholic HS
2025 Playoffs:10-3.
Key players Graduated Time All State DE/LB La’Mikal Callahan(Over 50 Career Sacks),2024 2nd Team All State RB/LB Jamarion Burton,2024 All State at two positions WR/CB Jermaine Brown Jr,2024 2nd Team All State OT/DE Jaquavis Blount(Over 30 Career Sacks), OL Kadarius Zanders
Team Outlook: We lost 4 big-time players but played a bunch of SOsin 2024, which will bode well for us in 2025. Defense will be ahead of the Offense. We do have our QB back, which is key. We lost 10 seniors, but only 4 of those played a lot. I would not be shocked if we had a few shutouts on Defense in the upcoming season said Head Coach Cornelius Blount.”
Tidbits: The Kangaroos, the last 3 years, have been to either the Quarterfinals or Semifinals, a remarkable run .2025, they look to get to the Dome and win another State Title. This team has the speed and experience to do just that. Kentwood High School has 9 Football State Titles, and Boys Basketball won a State Title in 2017. The last football state title was in 2018. The Track Team Boys won a Title in 2019.
Instead of doing an Offense & Defense preview, I will put everyone together because the history of this program is no program does it better, starting more 2-way players than Kentwood HS for a full season. Here are some great program players to keep a eye on RB/WR/CB O.J Hookfin 5-8 160 3rd year starter 4.5 speed, LB Jayden Cohn 6-0 180 3 year starter, CB Ricky Briggs 5-6 150 3 year starter big time hitter, CB/WR Jamarrious Campbell 5-8 165 3 year starter, WR/CB/OLB Chance Biggs 6-3 200 3 year starter(3 interceptions in 2024), QB/WR/Safety Ahmade Bickham 3 year starter, OLB/DE/TE Richard Othis Jr 6-4 210 3 year starter, CB/SS/OLB Chance Knighten 6-0 170 3 year starter, DE/DT Adrian Burton 5-11 230, DE/OLB Ivan Williams 3 year starter 4.6 speed, OT/DT Joshua Roberts 5-10 220 3 year starter, OLB leader Terrell Smith 114 tackles in 2024, OLB/Athlete Kendell Zanders 6-0 205 2nd year starter, OL/DL Isaiah McCray 6-0 250 2nd year starter, and WR/DB Johnathan Bagnet 5-11 180 new starter.
Special Teams will always be strong in the return game with Jamarrious Campbell back with his 4.45 speed and several more players, all with 4.5 speed, in the return game. The Punter/Kicker should be Chance Briggs for his 2nd year as the Punter.
Southern Lab Kittens
Head Coach:Darrell Asberry(9th year)
2024 Record:8-4
2024 Playoffs: Quarterfinals lost to Kentwood HS
2023 Record:12-1 State Champs
Key players Graduated:2024 2nd Team All State RB Armariyan Asberry(Southern U),2024 All State WR Keenan Butler(Trine College), CB Raymon McKneely(Hinds, Mississippi JC), SS Ashton Sanders, CB/FS Amir-Franklin-Sanders,2024 All State WR Marquez Williams, CB/WR Michael Plummer,2024 Hon Mention All State RB & All State LB Trevoris Norman Jr, DT Jerren Smith, OG/DT Braylon Lawrence
Team Outlook: We are preaching accountability in our program with our players and coaches for the 2025 season. You always hear the saying discipline wins championships, but accountability is also needed to win championships also as a team and as a staff. We need everyone to do the little things to go far in the playoffs and compete for a title in 2025 said Head Coach Darrell Asberry.”
Tidbits: Head Coach Darrell Asberry is a former starting Quarterback for Jackson State University. Coach also for years helps with play-by-play for Jackson State football home games in Jackson, Mississippi. Coach Asberry's son signed with Southern University in 2025 as a Running Back, and I think one of the best in Louisiana, no one talked about, and his name is Armariyan Asberry, 6-0, 208 pounds, with 4.5 speed in the forty. Southern Lab High School is one of the top Class 1A High Schools in the Country for producing NFL players like Marcus Spears(LSU), LB Damone Clark(LSU), DE Frank Alexander(Oklahoma), RB Tyrion Davis Price(LSU), DE Chuck Wiley(LSU), RB John Simon(Louisiana Tech), and many others for football. Southern Lab High School has 11 Football State Championships in the history of the school, and coach Asberry has won two of those in 2021 & 2023.
The Kittens in 2025 will rely on the Offense early on because it has more experience back overall with a lot of speed and athleticism. Returning at Quarterback will be 2nd year starter, 2024 2nd Team All State/ All District Jerry Bottley IV, 6-2, 190. Bottley has a ton of untapped talent still, and I think he might have a breakout year in 2025. The run game will have more than one player, and the top RB will be RB/WR Logan Dauphine SR, 5, 175, along with talented backs Maurice Brown Jr, 5-8, 180, and RB Mark Evans, 5-10, 200, a new player to the team. The WR room have talent and might be the deepest position on the team with experience and speed lead by 2024 All District WR/CB Denim Hunt a 3 year starter one of the few players that will start both Offense & Defense with 4.4 legit speed in the forty, WR Jayce Wright 5-9 170 new starter, WR Jayden Hatch 6-1 205 new starter had a good Spring, and 2024 All District WR Anthony Weatherspoon looking to have a break out year coach said 5-10 180 2nd year starter 4.5 legit speed in the forty. The Offensive Line returns most of it’s starters from a year ago and has a chance to be one of the best in all of Class 1A in 2025 lead by 2024 All District SR Sami Abdelhak 6-4 315 3 year starter, OL Eneas Davis 6-1 250 3 year starter,2024 All District OT/DT Jayden Thomas 6-3 275 a 2 way starter entering his 3rd year as a starter,2024 All District Center Johnny Herman 5-11 265 2nd year starter, and new starter Julien Richard 6-0 275.
The Defense will be very young at Defensive Back and Linebacker, but the Defensive Line has the talent to control the line of scrimmage until the younger players get some experience. The front seven will be DT Creston Hawkins 6-2 300 a gifted 3 year starter, DE A’Mickel Dwin 5-10 205 2nd year starter, DT Jayden Thomas, DE/OLB Efrem Peters 6-0 240 did not play in 2024 good Spring, LB Amari Morgan 5-10 200 new starter, LB Jaiden Fletcher 6-0 190 also a starter on Offense at Tight End, LB Kaleb Williams 5-8 200 and DE August Roy 5-10 198 will get some reps also on Defense. The Defensive Backfield will be very young but talented as a group. They are led by CB Denim Hunt, with 4.4 speed, a shutdown CB. The rest of the backfield are all new starters except 2nd year starter Safety Zade Richmon, 5-,10 185. The rest of the Defensive Backfield will be CB Gerald Seaton 5-9 160, CB/Safety Melvin Vernell 5-10 170, Safety Alexander Williams 5-8 175, and CB Mason Boyd 5-10 170
Special Teams at Kicker will be new starter Elliott Woodard, 5-7, 170, and Punter will be Jaiden Fletcher. Fletcher can also kick if needed in 2025.

2024 Playoffs: No
2023 Record:2-8
Key players Graduated: RB/CB Keiron Ross(Milsaps), FS/WR Isaiah Doucette, TE/DE David Burns. TE/WR Deven Johnson
Team Outlook: Every day, trying to get better. Our motto(How you do one thing and how you do everything) is what we preach to the team. Lost 3 games in the final minutes in 2024 Northeast High School, Gueydan High School, and Central Private High School, said Head Coach Devon Breaux.”
Tidbits: Head Coach Devon Breaux is an alum of Donaldsonville High School Class of 2012. Thrive Academy High School graduated 15 players from the 2024 which is a lot for the program. Coach Breaux told me he expects anywhere from 25 to 28 players in the Fall. Thrive Academy is a statewide boarding school. Coach Breaux was also a great Track Athlete for Tulane University back in the day, too.
The program does return 4 players going into there senior season as 4 year starters RB/FB/LB Kent Trosclair, 5-10 180,, leader, best tackler on team, OG/DT Cooper Simmons, 5-10 185, OT/DT Richard Rogers, 6-5 245, and HB/TE Trevon Campbell, 5-10 170.
The Offense will have a new starting QB, Skyler Hills, 5-9, 1, who had a good Spring and offseason for the program. More key players to keep an eye on are 3-year starter Center/DT Adrian Eckels, 6-,1 195.OG/DT Joshua Washington 5-11 195 2 year starter,DE/TE Braylon Harris 6-4 185,WR/CB David Ironbar 6-1 165, and RB/LB Ashton Hills 5-10 180 a new starter.
