LAFM’s Week 10 Recruiting Scoop and Tidbits

Just like that, the 2018 Louisiana High School Football regular season is over and we are now heading towards the gauntlet that is the postseason. Not only are teams getting ready for their Road to the Dome, but colleges are getting ready to recruit some of the best Louisiana has to offer. Louisiana Football Magazine’s own Jace LeJeune and Cameron Cerniglia were able to catch up with a couple of teams this week in order to find out what is going on in recruiting with their perspective teams after Week 10 of prep play.
Brusly High School: (Jace LeJeune)
Brusly High School senior DB Conner Sorrell (6-0, 175) has had a very good season with 40 tackles, 13 pass breakups, and three interceptions. Sorrell has drawn the attention of programs such as Mississippi Valley and Nicholls State.
Other seniors such as OT/DE Devin Eschette (6-3, 220) and DB Norman LeJeune Jr. (6-2, 180), who is the son of former LSU player Norman LeJeune Sr., have been getting interests from D-II, D-III schools.
Holy Cross High School: (Jace LeJeune)
Holy Cross High School senior kicker Nolan Heitmeier (5-9, 155) will go down as one of the best kickers in program history. So far, he had received no offers, but he is very interested in colleges such as LSU, Wisconsin, and Kansas. He is planning on taking a visit to LSU soon.
Senior DE Dominic Lamm (6-1, 220) is committed to Southeastern Louisiana University. Even though Lamm has committed to the Lions, he is still planning on taking visits to UNLV and ULL.
Fellow senior DE David Barnes (6-2, 230) may not have received any offers, but Southeastern and Cornell have been in touch with the 2017 2nd Team All-District selection. In fact, Barnes will be visiting Southeastern today for their game against the McNeese State Cowboys.
Senior OG/OT Austin Wehrlin (6-2, 270) has been offered by schools including Texas Wesleyan, Rhodes College, Millsaps College, Hendrix College, Louisiana College, and Wabash College. He has also been contacted by ULL and UIW. The Ragin’ Cajuns have invited Wehrlin to attend the South Alabama game on a visit for Saturday, November 17th.
Senior FB/TE Merlin Seminary (6-0, 215) has been contacted by Southeastern and Nicholls State. Seminary is on a visit to Tulane for their game against the South Florida Bulls.
Senior offensive lineman Grant Jenny (6-3, 260) has been offered by Arkansas Monticello, Louisiana College, Hendrix College, Wabash College, Millsaps College, Rhodes College, and he is heading to Mississippi College for a game day visit today.
Jeanerette High School: (Cameron Cerniglia)
Jeanerette High School senior DE/OLB Toddrick Paul (6-4, 215) has received offers from Texas Southern University, Southeast Missouri State University, Northwestern State University, and Grambling State University.
Lafayette Christian Academy: (Cameron Cerniglia)
Lafayette Christian Academy senior RB Montreal Felix (5-4, 160) is committed to play for Millsaps College.
Loyola College Prep: (Jace LeJeune)
Loyola College Prep’s all time leading receiver John Williams (6-0, 167) has been offered by Mississippi Valley State University and Louisiana College. Louisiana Tech and UCA have shown interest. This weekend, Williams is making the visit to see UCA play Lamar University.
Senior OL/DL Cameron Myles (6-2, 315) has been offered by Louisiana College. Myles has also received some interests from other D-II, D-III programs. Over the next couple of weeks, he is planning on visiting Arkansas and Houston.
Senior QB Jacob Allen (5-10, 186) has been contacted by Culver Stockton, Bethel College, Ripon College, and Lyon College. After the football season, Allen will spend some time taking visits and making the decision to where he wants to attend.
Madison Prep Academy: (Jace LeJeune)
Madison Prep Academy senior safety Bertrand Carrell (6-1, 200) is one of the best at his position in South Louisiana. Carrell has received offers from Jackson State, Arizona, Tulane, South Alabama, Idaho, Kentucky, Southern Miss, Texas A&M, Missouri, Arkansas State, Alabama State, ULL, Southeastern, Colorado State, Memphis, Southern, and even LSU. At the end of July, Carrell announced his top six schools. On Monday morning at 9 A.M., Carrell will be announcing his commitment at school.
Senior DT Luther Lamotte (6-0, 255) is committed to play for the Central Methodist University Eagles.
Senior DE Michael Henderson (5-11, 240) is committed to play for the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions.
ATH Joel Williams (6-2, 190) is one of the top junior recruits in the state of Louisiana. Already, with still another season to go, he has received offers from Arizona State, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, ULL, LSU, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, Missouri, New Mexico State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, SMU, South Alabama, South Carolina, Southern Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Tulane, and Virginia.
