Class of 2023 Recruit Spotlight: Hahnville High School WR & Tulane Commit Dakota Williams
by Freety Parker
Dakota Williams is a 6’2, 205 pound wide receiver for Hahnville High School. When you think speed in Louisiana high school football, Dakota’s name should be one of the first names that pops up in your head. Dakota is currently recovering from an ACL and meniscus surgery and has recently been fully cleared to resume all activities. He has something to prove for the Tigers who are coming off a 6-3 season last year. Getting back in the gym and training is something he is already doing 6 months off surgery working to improve his already impressive 4.39/40 yard dash time.
Dakota has been playing football for as long as he can remember. His mom and grandparents decided to put him in multiple sports at a young age, but he says nothing will ever compare to his first love…football. Football is an escape from the world for Dakota. When he’s on the field, he is always at his best and happiest. Williams has football to thank for many memorable moments including the players and coaches he considers his family. Starting for some of his freshman year of high school is a point in time that set the bar high for Dakota, and he will never take being blessed to be in that position for granted. The bad days are the days that Dakota feels like he learns the most on and this is what is going to take him to the collegiate level and succeed.
Dakota Williams is a great individual on and off the field, and this is what makes him a leader in the eyes of his teammates. When asked what he does to lead his team, he says “I lead by example, I work hard, I’ve got great character, and I bring energy to everyone around me”. Dakota’s favorite athlete is Odell Beckham Jr., who made one of the biggest comebacks after ACL surgery, Dakota admires his game on the field and takes every detail of Odell’s work and puts it into his own bag of tricks.
Williams is working on perfecting his craft, being efficient on every single play, and his footwork to make sure that when he pumps the brakes on his routes he can explode past the defensive backs he’s lining up against. Not only is Dakota putting in the work for himself and family, but also gives thanks to the coaching staff of the Tigers who push him to be his best day in and day out. When asked what makes him different, Dakota says “I can run past anybody on any given day”. His confidence is what separates good from great in the world of football.
In Dakota’s free time, he enjoys listening to music, eating, and just relaxing. Dakota plans to play football in college while majoring in Kinesiology and making a name for himself on and off the field. Dakota is currently committed to playing for the Tulane Green Wave after graduating high school in 2023.
