South Lafourche Tarpons
By: Lee Brecheen
Head Coach: Brian Young (4th year)
2022 Record: 2-8; Finished 6th in District
Class & District: Class 4A (District 7)

South Lafourche QB Carson Orgeron
I think South Lafourche head coach Brian Young, who played QB at both Southeastern and Hahnville grad, is a good coach. If he can get the depth built up in the program, I think this team and program will take off in Class 4A. Those coaches work hard to win games.
“We started five freshmen in Class 4A in 2022,” said Coach Young. “We do have a good group coming back. We had a great Spring and we finished strong with energy going into the Summer. We have a chance to have a good team in 2023 but we just need to be consistent as a team.”
The offense has a veteran quarterback in two-year starter senior Carson Orgeron, who is the best player on the team after coming over from Central Lafourche in 2022. Orgeron started for Central in 2021 as a sophomore and will be a three-year starter in High School with a cannon arm and 4.6 speed in the forty. This kid gives this team a chance to be pretty good in 2023.

South Lafourche MLB Abram Bourg
The skill talent around Orgeron will be led by powerful RB Landin Dardar, RB Landon Jarvis and senior FB/TE/HB Kamden Bourg (5-10, 170). You also have WR Joshua Mack, who is a young talented player and a future QB, and WR Terrance Pitre, who has serious speed as he ran under 4.5 in the forty. The offensive line should average over 250 pounds in 2023 as the unit is led by senior Aiden Bruce (6-3, 265), Beau Georges (230 pounds), center Carter Callais (5-11, 250) and Sawyer Wells (270 pounds).
The defense for South Lafourche will be tough again. Although the Tarpons are not the biggest, they are led by strong and all-out players in senior MLB Abram Bourg (5-9, 210), DE Tyler Autin (5-10 220), DT/NG Kade Nelson, senior LB Max Dedros (5-8, 175) and some talented younger players fighting for playing time in fall.

South Lafourche FS Maddox Camardelle
The secondary will be led by senior FS Maddox Camardelle (5-9 155), who Coach Young thinks is the best player on defense. South Lafourche also has many young kids competing for the other spots that will be determined in the fall.
The special teams will be led by senior kicker Cesar Gonzales, who has a strong leg and is also a big-time soccer player for the school.
