The Riverdale High School program made the playoffs in 2022. That was the first time in eight years for the program to get there. The program had eight freshmen start in 2022.
Riverdale has a 2-2 record on the season. This is a great start for this program.
The offense returns second-year starting QB Lance Simmons. There are quality skill players that start on both sides of the ball in four-year starter RB/DB Ari Baker (5-11, 172, Sr.) Ari played in Michigan his junior year but he moved back to Louisiana and is playing his senior year at Riverdale. Baker already has one interception this season and he’s a big-time leader for this team. Other skill players in the program are athlete Thomas Kaska (5-10, 160), RB Elijah Brown (6-2, 225, Sr.), RB Luis Enrigues (5-9, 200, Sr.) who is a powerful back for his size, WR/DB Colby Bufkin (5-9, 160), WR/CB Toren Signal (6-3, 180) who is a playmaker for this team and ATH Byron Perrilliat (5-11, 185), a track & football player who is fast on the field.
The key linemen and linebackers in the program are OT Jalen Reed (6-4, 260) who is a sleeper, LB Taylor Mahoney (5-11, 195, Sr.), a leader and strong player, DT Landon Simmons (5-10, 290) whose brother is the QB Lance Simmons, OG Peyton Jelks (5-11, 275), EDGE/TE Cortez Tumbo (6-3, 200, 4.8 speed) with great hands and DE Greg Paris (6-0, 215) who is a transfer from Grace King High School with a great future.
Head Coach Kyle Walker is a great coach. He wins with what he has every year and helps kids improve their game. Coach Walker’s dad is the long-time head coach Richard Walker who has coached many years in the New Orleans area and is well respected in the business also.
