Plain Dealing Lions
By Lee Brecheen
Head Coach: Clint Walker (2nd year)
2022 Record: 0-10
Class & District: Class 1A (District 1)
Head coach Clint Walker came back to coach the Plain Dealing program so they could keep football around and be there for the kids. I have a lot of respect for that move from Coach Walker and I am sure the kids left respect it too. I am pulling for these kids to win a game in 2023 or more.
“We came close to winning four games in 2022 but we had no depth and we would wear out in the second half in the close games,” Coach Walker said. “We currently have 25 high school boys at the school. We will have to play a lot of talented middle school kids on varsity to have a team. We had over 30 fumbles in 2022 and need to improve on that in 2023.”
In the spring and summer, the program had 5 key players at workouts. The 6 players coming back before fall are RB/QB/DB/OLB Tyrese Kimble who is a four-year starter, 2022 Second Team All-District RB/DB Aaron Reddix (5-10, 170, 4.6 speed), RB/DB Jayden Ray (5-5, 145) did miss spring ball but is a key player coming back, OL/DL Gage Aquillard (5-10, 210) Strongest kid on the team and DB/RB/WR Jamerion Baker-Shephard (5-5, 135). Once school started, Coach Walker hoped for 10 to 12 kids from the middle school to join the team so they could play in 2023.
