Pickering High School has started the season 0-4. To make matters worse, they have lost 25 straight games. The last time the Red Devils won a game was on Nov. 20, 2020, when they defeated Oakdale 46-37 for their fifth win of the season that year.
Pickering’s quarterback is Braden Ford (5-9, 140), who can deadlift 305 pounds and has 4.55 speed. The rest of the team will start both sides of the football starting with RB/LB Xavier Mitchell (5-7, 190) who is a big-time player for the program, RB/FS Jaden Mizera (5-7, 165), FB/MLB Augustus James (5-8, 215), OL/DL Logan Sneed (6-1, 305, Sr.) who can deadlift 415 pounds and finished in fifth in the state in powerlifting for his weight class, OC/DE Aden Gustafson (6-1, 240), RB/QB/DB Jae’Don Sandova (5-6, 145,4.45 speed) who is a good young player, and TE/DE/RB Hunter Noel (6-0, 175) who has great hands, is a leader, and a new starter.
On special teams, you have a strong unit with two good kickers Harlie Ramey and Mariano Bunch. Both have strong legs.
First-year head coach John Daugherty went to Fordyce High School, the same high school as legendary Alabama head coach Paul “Bear” Bryant (Alabama). Coach Daugherty coached the defensive line at Natchitoches Central High School for eight years through 2022.
