“We have a core group of seniors and we are looking to build off the 2022 campaign with its first playoff berth in a few years,” said new St. John head coach Bryan Troxclair.
St. John has made a great decision to hire Troxclair. He comes over from Zachary HS, where he was well thought of by its coaching staff.
The Eagles will have a lot of experience on its roster as they have multiple starters that have started three or more years. Just like a lot of players in Class 1A, they

happen to play both sides. Everything will revolve around 5-11, 185-pound senior QB Gage Blanchard, who has a good arm as well as really good feet to run if needed. The two main experienced backs return in the run game in seniors RB/DB Michael Edwards (5-10, 165), who has 4.6 speed, and FB/LB Clayton Repp (6-1, 210). Repp brings power and can run when given the ball in the offense.
The trenches in the offensive & defensive lines are full of two-way starters. They are led by seniors OC/DT Dylan Lopez (5-11 210), OG/DT Gage Landry (5-10, 205), TE/DE Ellis Braud (6-1, 205) and LB/DB Jack Marcantel (6-2, 195), who has 4.7 speed. OG/DT Jaran Primeaux (5-10, 240) and OT/DT Ben Gourgues (6-2, 205) will also make huge contributions to St. John’s front seven as well.
The special teams will be decided in the fall and if this team stays healthy, they have a chance to surprise some people in 2023.
