Patrick F. Taylor Academy was voted as the # 1 Academic High School in Louisiana and it is located on the Westbank of New Orleans. Head Coach Kenneth Bourgeois played football at both Jesuit HS (graduated in 2010) and McNeese State (graduated in 2014) for one year. Coach Bourgeois’ father, Kenny, was on the coaching staff at John Ehret HS for 25 years under Billy North. The program has over 63 players in the program in just its second year of varsity football as Patrick F. Taylor played a JV Schedule in 2021. Coach Kenneth Bourgeois also coached under Marcus Scott at John Ehret HS, Tommy Connors at Archbishop Shaw HS & Bill Stubbs at Riverside HS.
“The school’s first full varsity season was in 2022 and We return 29 seniors in 2023,” Bourgeois said. “All 29 are kids who have been in the program going back four years when we played a JV schedule before a varsity schedule. Our offense will be mostly a split back veer and our defense will be mostly a 3-3 stack overall.”
The offense will have a lot of experience back in 2023. The QB spot will return Ethan Tran 5-11 175 SR leader. Ethan made All-District as a QB in 2022 for this young program. There will be at least four running backs rotating when the program runs a split-back Veer Offense. The running back group includes senior RB Bryce Boutte (6-0, 200) returns with power and speed, Harrison Pfister (5-7, 150) returns, RB Logan Rogers (5-8, 160) who is new but talented, and two- way starter senior RB/LB/DE Rasheed Brown (5-9, 215). The wide receiver corps is also deep and it’s led by Preston Champagne (5-7, 155), Jeremy Gibson (5-7, 155), senior Larry Cole (5-11, 160), and senior WR Anthony Fisher (6-0, 165).
The offensive line has six players with experience as they have second-year starters in senior OT Leo Fritze (6-1, 275), senior OL

Patrick F. Taylor LB Ethan Barthelemy
Chris Richert (5-8, 245), center Anthony Scandurro (5-10, 235), OG Joshua Gauthier (5-10, 230), senior OT Tavius Turner (5-10, 270) and senior OL Brandon Shubert (5-10, 225). They also have senior TE/HB Owen Clakely (5-10, 175) to assist the O-Line with run blocking.
Like the offense, the defense returns almost everyone starting with the very talented defensive front. The front seven consists of DT Jackson Norwood, senior David Doell (5-10, 205), senior DT Shri DaSaan (6-0, 240), senior LB Ethan Barthelemy (6-0, 180), senior OLB/DE Kinkaid Hinyup (6-4, 215), senior LB Gavin Bonner (5-11, 170) and LB Hunter Smith (5-10, 190). The Defensive backfield returns senior CB Seth Childs (5-9, 165), new starting CB Ryne Reaves (5-7, 150), SS Mason Beach (5-11, 165), FS/SS Alex Fisher (5-11, 160), SS Beau Faucheaux (5-7, 155) and senior SS/FS Antonio Cuartas (5-10, 165).
The special teams will be led by senior kicker Khoi Nquyen (5-9, 160), who has a good leg and experience.
