by Lee Brecheen and Jace LeJeune
Louisiana Football Editor and Owner Lee Brecheen has scouted all of these guys from the 2015 season to now. Lee has seen these guys in person whether it was in games or in team practices. The opinions on these players below are only from Lee Brecheen not from any other recruiting site. This is the 2nd Team All-North Louisiana Offensive and Defensive Team. The 1st and 2nd All-North Louisiana team consists of senior players from the Monroe, Alexandria, Shreveport, and its Metro areas.

Note: We will feature articles on the players that did not make the 2nd Team All-North and All-South Louisiana team that are either DI, I-AA, D-II, D-III, NAIA, or JUCO caliber over the next six months. This is one of the strongest years for the state of Louisiana as there could be close to 400 players this season in the state that can eventually sign with a college at the end of the season. Also, at the end of the season, we will put up our All-Sleeper team, which will consist of players that were not on the 1st or 2nd All-Louisiana teams.
QB:
Justin Lawson
Winnfield High School
6-2, 185
Lee’s Scouting Report: Justin Lawson has the ability to become a DI QB in 2018. I saw his great skill set in a game in 2017. He has a great arm and is very mobile, but is still growing in size.”
Bio: Even though Justin Lawson has the look to be a DI quarterback, it looks like that the two sport athlete will lean on playing baseball at the college level. He is being looked at by schools such as Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Louisiana Tech, and Hines Community College for baseball. When Lawson is not seen playing baseball or football, he is usually hunting.
Brad Fream
Airline High School
6-4, 220
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Brad Fream has really grown into a DI player going from 6-3, 195 in 2017 to 6-4, 220 in 2018. This is his year to show off his talents. He has the DI ability.”
Bio: In only four games last season, Brad Fream threw for 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns to go along with only four interceptions before suffering a season ending injury. Now, Fream is ready for a big senior season since he is 100% healthy. Fream’s top schools are Memphis, Vanderbilt, SMU, Texas State, and SMU. After the football season is over, Fream likes to hunt. For him, it is an opportunity to get away from school, football, and everything in between.
Blade Beaubouef
LaSalle High School
6-1, 194
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Blade Beaubouef is one of the more athletic quarterbacks in the state with 4.55/40 speed to go along with a strong arm.”
Bio: In 2017, Blade Beaubouef showed his athleticism completing 41 of 98 passes for 626 yards as well as rushing for 1,032 yards on 155 carries in eight games. His top schools are ULL, Louisiana Tech, and ULM. When the football season is over, it does not necessarily mean that the sport season is over for Beaubouef as he also plays baseball and participates in track and field events for his team.
Jordan Gladney
Airline High School
5-11, 195
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Jordan Gladney did a great job filling in for starting quarterback Brad Fream leading the Vikings to the playoffs. Gladney could play several positions in college or could go to a smaller school and play quarterback.”
Bio: Airline High School has the most intriguing quarterback situation in the entire state with Brad Fream being a DI caliber quarterback and Jordan Gladney, who helped lead the Vikings on a hot streak at the end of the season. In that stretch, Gladney led the Vikings to six straight wins with 1,200 passing yards and 205 rushing yards. Gladney’s top schools are ULL, Northwestern State, and LSU. When the football season is over, Gladney likes to workout and play video games.
Tristan Weatherly
Vidalia High School
6-2, 190
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Tristan Weatherly is the best dropback quarterback in over 20 years at Vidalia High School. He has a quick release as well as a strong arm.”
Bio: Tristan Weatherly may end up being one of the best quarterbacks to play for legendary head football coach George “Dee” Faircloth when it is all said and done. This past season, Weatherly passed for 1,800 yards and 18 touchdowns to go along with a 102 quarterback passer rating. Weatherly also showed that he can run when he needs to as he also ran for 450 yards and ten touchdowns. Now, Weatherly will hope to build off an impressive season leading the Vikings to the second round of the Class 2A playoffs in 2018. As of right now, his top schools are ULL, Louisiana Tech, Northwestern State, and ULM.
RB:
Robert Turner
Mansfield High School
5-10, 195
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Robert Turner is the best player on a talented young team. Turner runs with power and has deceptive 4.45/40 speed with an extra burst.”
Aubrey Scott
North DeSoto High School
5-11, 175
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Aubrey Scott is another in a long line of great running backs from North DeSoto High School. Scott can really run a 4.45/40 or better and once he gets heavier, he will become a complete DI or I-AA running back.”
Bio: Aubrey Scott has picked up where his counterpart and cousin Delmonte Hall (Southeastern) left off when he graduated from North DeSoto. Last season, Scott ran for 1,488 yards averaging an impressive 135 yards per game and 20 touchdowns. Over his career, Scott has accounted for 3,522 career all-purpose yards with 3,147 of those yards coming on the ground. When football season is over, Scott likes to enjoy a little two week break to just enjoy life and rest up before training for the next football season. As of right now, Scott has verbally committed to the Ragin’ Cajuns of ULL.
“I really feel like they wanted me to be apart of their program. The coaches have a ton of experience, and I feel like they are about to do something special in Lafayette, and that’s exciting,” Scott said. “It’s close enough to home where my family and friends can come watch plus I have the opportunity to play as a freshman so I just can’t wait to get down there and start my new journey.”
Freddie Mango Jr.
Delta Charter High School
5-11, 210
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Freddie Mango Jr. is the biggest sleeper running back in North Louisiana. The kid is man amongst boys in the district he plays in. He runs with power and has burst. I think he is a no brainer DI player.”
Bio: Last season, Freddie Mango Jr. ran for 1,200 yards on 123 carries and 15 touchdowns. His top schools are Tulane, TCU, and Kansas State. During the offseason, Mango likes to train and work out with teammates as well as go over film in order to improve on different areas of his game. Some of the intangibles that Mango would like to improve on this season are being a better leader for his teammates.
FB:
Devetrius Lotts
Peabody High School
6-2, 240
Lee’s Scouting Report: “I saw Devetrius Lotts play defensive end and running back for his team. He is very athletic and has a ton of upside for a DI program.”
Bio: Even though Lee projects Devetrius Lotts to play fullback at the next level, he is mostly seen as a defensive end as Lee mentioned earlier. Last season, Lotts had 88 tackles and 2.5 sacks. His top schools are Northwestern State, ULL, Tulane, and LSU. After the football season is over, Lotts will plan to visit some college hoping to look for an opportunity to play at the next level.
Chandler Moncrief
West Monroe High School
6-0, 240
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Sterlington High School transfer Chandler Moncrief has the frame and power to be a DI starting fullback for the right program.”
Bio: “During his time at Sterlington High School, Chandler Moncrief helped lead the Panthers to a Class 3A state championship as a linebacker in 2016. Now, he will hope to lead the West Monroe Rebels to their first state championship since 2011 as he has transferred to the program over the offseason. Last season with the Panthers, Moncrief had 80 tackles, three sacks, 10 tackles for loss, a touchdown, and a couple of quarterback pressures. When the football season is over, Moncrief likes to workout and going to the practice field in order to better his craft. The hard work has paid off as Moncrief has committed to play for the Northwestern State Demons.
“Man, the love and everybody on board was very enthusiastic about me,” Moncrief said. “They made me feel at home and not worry about playing time. They also mentioned that I could come in and get a lot of playing time my freshman year. I feel like I can go and start my freshman year and become a big asset to their team and lead them to some conference championships.”
WR:
Jacob Sylvia
Pineville High School
6-3, 170
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Jacob Sylvia is a really good route runner with great hands to go along with a big frame. He is a big time sleeper for DI and I-AA.”
Bio: Due to a knee injury that cut Jacob Sylvia’s junior season short, Sylvia was not able to post gaudy numbers through a whole season, but what he did in only three games was pretty incredible. In those three contests, Sylvia had 20 catches for 229 yards and three touchdowns. If Sylvia is healthy for a whole season, expect some big time numbers especially in a pass heavy offensive system under Head Coach Dennis Dunn. When the football season is over, Sylvia can be seen playing baseball. In fact, baseball was his first passion before football came along. His top school is Arkansas, which is a dream school that Sylvia would love to play for.
“I love to play for Arkansas just because I want to make it big and it is exciting to see that I am on their prospect list,” Sylvia said.”
Caddavius Leggins
Delhi High School
6-5, 200
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Caddavius Leggins has all of the talent in the world and you can tell that he is not even half way there showing it which is scary.”
Bio: Caddavius Leggins definitely has the potential to be a big time bloomer by the end of the season just by his overwhelming physical size and attributes. Last season, Leggins had two catches for 17 yards and a touchdown to go along with scoring a touchdown on defense and making 16 tackles. Leggins would love the opportunity to play for programs such as Southern Miss, ULM, ULL, and Louisiana Tech. After the football season is over, Leggins is focused on working out and competing in offseason drills.
Wesley Calloway
Southwood High School
5-11, 175
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Wesley Calloway can really run and I love his high effort. He could also become a DI cornerback with the right school.”
Bio: Wesley Calloway is as explosive as they come in North Louisiana and will hope to breakaway from defenders this season. His top five schools are Texas A&M, TCU, Ole Miss, Florida State, and Michigan. When the football season is over, Calloway can be seen working out and continuing on mastering his craft.
Brandon Quinney
Alexandria High School
6-3, 183
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Brandon Quinney, who is a big target along with 4.55/40 speed, has the upside to be a big time player at the next level. You can tell that this season could be his year to dominate.”
Slot WR:
Horatio Ruffins
Evangel Christian Academy
5-10, 165
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Horatio Ruffins can play either slot wide receiver or cornerback for the right DI program. Ruffins can absolutely fly with his 4.40/40 speed.”
Bio: Horatio Ruffins will hope to use his breakaway speed to his advantage this season for the Eagles. His top schools are TCU, Louisiana Tech, and Oklahoma State. When the football season is over, Ruffins does not take a break as he continues to train for the next upcoming football season.
TE:
Gordon Wilson
Neville High School
6-2, 190
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Gordon Wilson is a very athletic tight end that is still filling out. Wilson blocks well too and has a chance to be a really good DI tight end in the end.”
Bio: Gordon Wilson is a jack of all trades as he can do a little bit of everything whether it is catching, blocking, or even kicking off for his team. It is the same way after football season as Wilson plays soccer along with baseball. His top schools are LSU, Texas A&M, and Louisiana Tech.”
Jalen Standifer
Richwood High School
6-0, 215
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Jalen Standifer runs like a wide receiver and blocks like a tight end. He runs a 4.65/40 and looks faster.”
Bio: After losing last year’s big tight end Geor’quarius Spivey (Mississippi State) to graduation, the Richwood Rams are in good hands with Jalen Standifer. Standifer believes his biggest asset is his ability to block as he posted a bunch of pancake blocks last season. When the football season is over, Standifer can be seen working out. Right now, Standifer’s top school is Mississippi Valley, but is open to other schools.
OC:
Neil Mott
Neville High School
6-2, 305
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Neil Mott is very smart and mobile. He has great technique for a big guy and would make a smooth transition at the DI level.”
Bio: As the anchor of the Neville offensive front, which has entered the season as one of the best offensive lines in North Louisiana, 2nd Team All-District center Neil Mott is really looking forward to improving his overall game this season. When the offseason hits, Mott is usually hunting. As of right now, Mott is undecided for colleges and is open for any interests.
Noah Peters
Minden High School
6-1, 280
Lee’s Scouting Report: “I think Noah Peters is the best center prospect in North Louisiana and is a big time sleeper. He is a tough, strong kid with great feet.”
Tyler Kirk
Neville High School
6-0, 240
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Tyler Kirk made this list because he is a great high school offensive lineman. He is strong, quick, and can become a perfect fit in the right system.”
Bio: It is not often that two players on the same team make the 2nd All-North Louisiana team at the same position, but that is the case with Neil Mott and Tyler Kirk. For Neville, Kirk plays offensive guard while Mott is the starting center, but both can play the center position. The 2nd Team All-District player’s top schools are ULM and Louisiana Tech. When the football season is over, Kirk likes to workout and play basketball at the rec center.
OG:
Eric Harper
Captain Shreve
6-5, 330
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Eric Harper can play center, guard, or even tackle in college. I think he is more suited at offensive guard if he goes DI. He is a late bloomer that still has not hit his full potential yet.”
Bio: Eric Harper has the versatility to play all five positions along the offensive line and will play wherever the team needs him the most. Last season, Harper was dominant making Honorable Mention All-District with 27 pancake blocks. His top schools are ULL, Tulane, Northwestern State, Louisiana Tech, and Air Force Academy. When the football season is over, Harper likes to reflect and recharge until the next football season comes along.
Nicholas Davis
Ferriday High School
6-4, 300
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Nicholas Davis is a big time sleeper and the team’s best offensive lineman. He has the size, strength, and feet to go DI.”
Bio: Losing a larger than life player like Dare Rosenthal (LSU) is almost impossible to overcome up front, but having a guy like Nicholas Davis will help ease the transition. Davis may not play on defense like Rosenthal, but his impact if felt most on the offensive line. Last season, Davis had a lot of pancake blocks in order to help the team make an appearance in the Class 2A semi-finals. Davis is considering ULL and Grambling as far as the school that he wants to play for. When the football season is over, Davis can be seen spending time with family and friends.
Christian Perry
Evangel Christian Academy
6-2, 300
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Christian Perry really moves well for a kid that is over 300 pounds. Along with playing offensive guard, Perry can play center as well at the DI level.”
Bio: 1st Team All-District offensive lineman Christian Perry is the player that sets the tone for the Evangel Christian Academy offense. His top schools are Central Arkansas, Louisiana Tech, Texas Tech, and TCU. When the football season is over, Perry likes to play basketball.
Leonard Hickman
Many High School
6-3, 275
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Leonard Hickman has great feet for a big guy. Hickman has big time talent and is easily a DI player.”
Bio: 1st Team All-District offensive guard Leonard Hickman has cleared the way for star running backs such as AJ Carter (Arizona State) and Shacori Williams (Army commit). He has been a big part of their success on the ground and will help Williams improve on his stat total this season. His top schools are Georgia State, New Mexico, Southeastern Mississippi, and Lamar. When the football season is over, Hickman likes working out.
OT:
Christian Robinson
Southwood
6-4, 320
Lee’s Scouting Report: “I think Christian Robinson is a national recruit. I saw Robinson play and I believe that he can be a great DI offensive guard or offensive tackle. He moves well and uses his hands like a DI player as a blocker.”
Bio: It is amazing that a player like Christian Robinson that has the ideal frame, hands, and athleticism has only one offer, but that is the case for the Shreveport Times All-Area selection. Some of the schools that Robinson is considering are LSU, Texas State, and Northwestern State. When the football season is over, Robinson will try to promote himself and put his name out there in order to be recognized by more colleges.
Vincent Hall
Woodlawn (Shreveport) High School
6-4, 300
Lee’s Scouting Report: “I saw Vincent Hall start as a freshman and he was DI caliber then. Now, he is more polished, has good feet, and is tough. He could also be a DI offensive guard.”
Bio: Vincent Hall has been a mainstay on the Knights’ offensive front since his freshman year and has been one of the building blocks for Head Coach Jerwin Wilson and what he has done turning the program around. In his freshman season, Hall received 2nd team All-District and in his sophomore season, he improved making 1st Team All-District. Now, being a senior Hall is ready to step his game up to being an All-State caliber player. His top schools are Texas A&M and ULM. When the football season is over, Hall likes to participate in track and field events for his school.
K:
David Martinez
Tioga High School
6-1, 160
Lee’s Scouting Report: “David Martinez is really good under pressure and had a great season in 2017. He is not only a sleeper at the DI and I-AA level, but he could also potentially be a starter as well.”
Bio: The stats back up how successful David Martinez was on his kicks as he has made 91% of his extra point attempts as well as 80% of his field goal attempts. His longest field goal in a game is 44 yards and his kickoffs average 59 yards. Martinez is hoping to attend either Louisiana Tech or LSU-Alexandria, but has not decided yet. After football season, Martinez plays two other sports, which is soccer and baseball.
Jonathan Terry
Evangel Christian Academy
6-1, 175
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Jonathan Terry has kicked a few game winning field goals over 45 yards in games and easily over 50 yards in practice. He is a no brainer DI player.”
Bio: For Jonathan Terry, his longest field goal that he has made in a game is 48 yards. His top schools are TCU, LSU, and Louisiana Tech. With whichever school, Terry attends, he would like to pursue a degree in sports medicine.
ATH:
Quaterious Hawkins
Bastrop High School
6-0, 175
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Quaterious Hawkins plays quarterback for the team, but is such a great athlete with legit 4.45/40 speed. Hawkins could play quarterback, wide receiver, or cornerback at the DI level. He is a big time diamond in the rough.”
Bio: Quaterious Hawkins is a much valuable asset for the Rams’ offense. The All-State honorable mention and District MVP threw for an impressive 3,677 passing yards and 34 touchdowns to go along with five more rushing touchdowns. His top schools are McNeese State, Southern, and UAPB (University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff). For Hawkins, offseason or not, it is always football season as he continues getting better at his game.
Gakerreon McDonald
Red River High School
6-3, 180
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Gakerreon McDonald plays quarterback for Red River High School. McDonald has good speed and runs in stride out on the open field. He is long and athletic with a frame to be 220 pounds in the end. I can see him playing either wide receiver or free safety at the next level.”
Bio: Under first year Red River Head Coach John Bachman, Gakerreon McDonald excelled leading the Bulldogs to a nice playoff showing in the Class 2A playoffs. Last season, McDonald was named 1st Team All-District and 2nd Team All-Area at quarterback averaging 176 passing yards per game as well as 76 rushing yards per game. McDonald’s top schools, as of right now, are Northwestern State, ULM, ULL, and Louisiana Tech.
Carson Jones
West Monroe High School
5-9, 175
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Carson Jones is similar to Slade Bolden (Alabama) from 2017. Jones is so athletic and tough with 4.45/40 speed. He can line up at wide receiver, defensive back, and even sometimes at quarterback. Also, he can return punts and kickoffs on special teams.”
Bio: It sure helps to have a weapon on offense like Carson Jones especially since he can do similar things Slade Bolden was able to do. The biggest difference between Bolden and Jones, who made 1st Team All-District as a defensive back and 1st Team All-Northeast, is that Bolden has gone the football route, and it looks like that Jones will be going the baseball route committing to the ULL baseball program.
“It is an awesome program and the coaches are the best of the best to work with,” Jones said.
When the multi sport athlete is not playing football or baseball, he is usually seen shooting his bow and hanging out with friends.
Madrid Johnson
Logansport High School
5-9, 180
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Madrid Johnson is one of the strongest small skill players in North Louisiana. Johnson has started since his freshman year. He has the power, speed, and moves in the open field. He is a DI sleeper running back at the next level.”
Bio: “Madrid Johnson has been one of the major reasons for the Logansport Tigers’ success under Head Coach Kevin Magee. Johnson has been a major part of the Tigers’ 2016 1A state championship team as well as the team’s incredible 27 game winning streak. Over his incredible high school career, which remarkably still has a full year to go, Johnson has been named All-Parish defensive back, two time 1st Team All-District flex player, 2nd Team All-District wide receiver, and All-Area athlete. Johnson is considering schools such as McNeese State, ULM, and Northwestern State. Outside of football, Johnson likes to ride horses and spend time with his family.
Amani Larry
Parkway High School
5-10, 180
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Amani Larry is one of the most exciting players in the Shreveport area. Larry replaced Justin Rogers (TCU) last season at quarterback as he suffered a season ending injury and did really well. Now, he is set to have a monster season with his 4.6/40 speed and great moves in the open field. He is a great athlete and can possibly be a receiver at the next level.”
Bio: “Coming in and replacing arguably the state’s best quarterback in the state in Justin Rogers, who had a season ending injury, was not easy to do. However, Amani Larry made the most of his opportunity leading the Panthers to five wins. In 2017, Larry threw for 689 yards and ran for 402 yards. Now, with a full offseason knowing that he is the starting quarterback, a lot of big things are expected from the senior dual threat quarterback. The All-City athlete is undecided when it comes to colleges, but is willing to consider any college that is willing to give him an opportunity. After the football season, Larry is playing baseball as well as working on his quarterback mechanics.
Ni’Kendrick Carter
Many High School
6-3, 200
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Ni’Kendrick Carter looks like a big time player in uniform. Carter is long and lean, but he does a good job of coming up to hit as well as playing both the run and pass equally. At 6-3, 200 pounds with 4.6/40 speed, he will make a name out of himself fast and be a future star.”
Bio: Ni’Kendrick Carter’s main goal is to play football at the next level. With his size, speed, and athleticism, that is definitely a possibility. Not only does he look like Tarzan, but he plays like him as well. In 2017, Carter had 70 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions. His top schools are SMU, ULL, and South Florida.
Jacob Allen
Loyola College Prep
5-9, 190
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Jacob Allen also made the list as a great high school player. Allen is one of the top quarterbacks in the Bossier/Shreveport area. He is a good passer and can run a 4.65/40. He can play for a lot of D-III programs.”
Bio: Jacob Allen has been a great high school quarterback. He has been selected All-State honorable mention, All-District twice, and All-District MVP last season. Even though all of those are great accomplishments, Allen’s biggest accomplishment is being named Academic All-District three times. Last season, he threw for 2,184 yards and 17 touchdowns while rushing for 900 yards. Allen’s top schools are Harding University, ULM, Milsaps, Henderson State, Ouachita Baptist, and Louisiana College. After the football season is over, Allen is focused on getting healthy and stronger for the next season.
DE:
Deangelo Lewis
Winnfield High School
6-2, 225
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Deangelo Lewis has a ton of upside. Lewis is really long and has great feet. He will be in the 240 to 250 pound range in college and still have his athleticism.”
Henry Thomas
Ferriday High School
6-2, 255
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Henry Thomas is overlooked because everyone was looking at Dantrieze Scott and Dare Rosenthal, who both signed with LSU, on film. Thomas could grow into a 285 pound defensive tackle with good feet or he can stay at about 260 pounds and stay at defensive end. For his size, he can really move.”
Bio: It comes to show you how dominant Ferriday’s defensive front has been over the last couple of seasons with guys like Rosenthal and Scott making headlines, but at the same time, having other players like Henry Thomas that have the potential to be just as good one day. In 2017, Thomas had 43 tackles, 12 solo, three sacks, ten tackles for loss, and even scored a touchdown last season. His top schools are Louisiana Tech and Tulane. When the football season is over, Thomas likes to watch film and highlights on different players to help strengthen his game. Thomas is also focused on staying in shape over the offseason.
Braxton Jackson
Minden High School
6-3, 280
Lee’s Scouting Report: “When I saw Braxton Jackson play tight end and at defensive tackle in 2017, I was super impressed. Jackson moves like a linebacker and brings the effort too. He is a big time player.”
Bio: Not often will you see a 6-3, 280 tight end/H-back, but you will occasionally see it with Braxton Jackson who has been used as a leading blocker in certain packages. What is more amazing than seeing Jackson play on the offensive side of the football is what he does on the defensive side of the football. Last season was a dominating year for Jackson, who had 54 tackles, six sacks, a blocked field goal. With those incredible stats while being double teamed often times, Jackson was named 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Area, All-Parish defensive MVP, and was also a player of the year nominee. The top schools that Jackson is considering are LSU, Georgia, and Texas Tech. When the football season is over, Jackson likes to hit the gym, go out, and watch some drag racing.
Thomas Brown
Woodlawn (Shreveport) High School
6-3, 270
Lee’s Scouting Report: “I saw Thomas Brown play as a freshman in person and he was DI then at 6-3, 230 pounds. The kid can end up being a big time steal for a big time DI program.”
Bio: That lucky DI program will be getting a bargain in Thomas Brown, who is one of the top defensive linemen in the Shreveport area. So far Brown has had several offers, but has narrowed down his schools to Louisiana Tech and ULM as his top schools. After the football season is over, Brown likes to participate in track and field events.
DT:
Dalvin Hutchinson
West Monroe High School
6-1, 305
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Dalvin Hutchinson is a true nose guard for college. I like to see him have a season like he did at his former school Wossman High School his sophomore season. Hutchinson looked like an All-American in 2016.”
Bio: Dalvin Hutchinson will once again try and regain his dominance this season leading a West Monroe defensive front that has a chance to be really special in 2018. Last season, Hutchinson showed what he is capable of with 66 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, six sacks, and two forced fumbles. 2017 caught the attention of a lot of different people as Hutchinson was named 1st Team All-State, All-NELA, and 1st Team All-District. After the football season is over, Hutchinson likes to participate in other sports events and activities such as basketball and track. Right now, Hutchinson is committed to play for the ULL Ragin’ Cajuns.
“My other top school was Memphis, but I chose ULL because for me, it was an opportunity to stay closer to home,” Hutchinson said.
Treamone Caldwell
Huntington High School
6-3, 320
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Treamone Caldwell is one of the biggest sleepers in the state as a defensive tackle with power and size.”
Bio: It is hard not to stand out if you are Treamone Caldwell at 6-3, 320 pounds, but this could be the season in which he gets the attention and respect that he deserves. In 2017, Caldwell was really productive with 52 tackles and three sacks making 2nd Team All-District. Caldwell’s top schools are Texas, TCU, LSU, Louisiana College, and Northwestern State. When the football season is over, Caldwell likes to workout and play video games.
Rasheed Lyles
Winnfield High School
6-2, 280
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Rasheed Lyles can be a great defensive tackle in college. Lyles is very much a sleeper as he moves really well for his size. We also have not seen the best of him yet, which is scary for opposing offenses.”
Bio: Winnfield’s defensive line has a chance to be really good in 2018 with already two players along the front that have made the 2nd All-North Louisiana team in DE Deangelo Lewis and DT Rasheed Lyles. Lyles, who has a lot of the tools that are necessary in order to be a disruptive player, has made a goal for himself this season to lead the team in sacks and get All-State honors. In fact, Lyles is focused on improving his game in all areas this season. With that attitude, there could be some looks coming Lyles’ way by the end of the season, but for right now, his top schools are ULL and Southern Miss.
OLB:
Rayshion Cook
Parkway High School
5-11, 220
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Rayshion Cook is a tackling machine that has grown into an outside linebacker over time. Cook runs a legit 4.6/40 and looks much faster in the open field.”
Bio: Parkway’s tackling machine Rayshion Cook looks to do much of the same in 2018 as last season, he averaged over seven tackles a game. Those numbers allowed him to have an All-District honorable mention season his junior year, but there is only one way to go and that is up. Cook not only prepares himself when he plays football, but he prepares himself in everything else that he does whether it is football, basketball, or even school. Right now, his top schools are Grambling, Louisiana Tech, and Northwestern State.
Stefan Wheeler
Minden High School
6-1, 210
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Stefan Wheeler is a tough player that can really run. The great thing about him is that we have not seen the best from him yet. He will grow to be 230 to 240 pounds in college.”
Bio: Stefan Wheeler will lead the Minden defensive front that is projected to be really strong with Braxton Jackson also in the front seven. The best quality about Wheeler besides his physical attributes is that he is always preparing for the next play and does not let what happen in the past affect his play. Right now, Wheeler is considering schools such as Southeastern Louisiana University, ULL, Louisiana Tech, and Grambling.
Damon Wilson
Woodlawn (Shreveport) High School
6-0, 205
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Damon Wilson is the brother of Donovan Wilson, who starts at free safety for Texas A&M. Like his brother, Wilson is gifted with 4.55/40 speed and is a true outside linebacker for college with room to get a lot bigger.”
Bio: The apple certainly does not fall far from the tree in the Wilson household and Damon Wilson has a chance to become a big time player like his brother. So far, Wilson has only received one scholarship offer from Northeastern State University, but is open to any other college offers. After football season, Wilson likes to play basketball and the ever popular video game Fortnite.
Larry Scott
Ferriday High School
6-1, 215
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Larry Scott might be the biggest sleeper at outside linebacker in Louisiana. He can run a 4.5/40 and is fun to watch making tackles all over the field.”
Bio: Everybody talks about how great Ferriday’s defensive line was last season, but what gets lost in the shuffle is OLB Larry Scott. In 2017, Scott had 84 tackles and 12 tackles for loss. This season, Scott has set his season goals pretty high with 100 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, five interceptions, and to also become the number one linebacker in the state. Those are some lofty goals, but with the talent that Scott has, there could be a good chance that those goals do happen. As of right now, Scott’s top schools are Louisiana Tech, Tulane, Kansas State, and TCU.
La’Kamion Franklin
Neville High School
6-2, 210
Lee’s Scouting Report: “La’Kamion Franklin is a diamond in the rough as they say. Franklin will shine in 2018. I saw some big time ability from him in person and what is most scary is that he has not reached his ceiling yet.”
Bio: La’Kamion Franklin has the ability to dominate a football game on the defensive side. In a playoff win against McDonogh 35, Franklin had two big time quarterback sacks to help the Tigers win the game. Overall, Franklin was a force to be reckoned with last season getting in the backfield and sacking the quarterback twelve times as well as making 1st Team All-District. Franklin’s top schools are Northwestern State, ULL, ULM, and UAM (University of Arkansas Monticello). After football season, Franklin is up to doing anything as long as it keeps him active.
MLB:
Chaz Crawford
Green Oaks High School
6-2, 225
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Chaz Crawford is a big time sleeper with a strong frame that moves and reads well.”
Bio: All-District middle linebacker Chaz Crawford has already drawn some attention from colleges as he already holds offers from colleges such as Arkansas-Monticello and Dean College. Also, he has been in contact with other schools such as Grambling, Southern, and even Ole Miss. When the football season is over, Crawford likes working out and spending time with family.
Gavin Roe
Haughton High School
5-10, 220
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Gavin Roe makes the team because he is such a great high school football player. Roe will get a chance to play for a small college in the end.”
Bio: Haughton’s three year starter and captain Gavin Roe is the heart and soul of the Haughton football team. Last season, Roe showed what he was capable of with over 100 tackles and three sacks. His top schools are Louisiana Tech and Northwestern State. When the football season is over, Roe likes to hunt and spend time with family.
CB:
Nick Gee
Rayville High School
6-0, 175
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Nick Gee is a very gifted player with 4.40/40 speed and can run faster than his speed indicates. 2018 is his year to shine.”
Bio: Nick Gee is looking to do just that, but it wasn’t like he has not played at a high level before. In 2017, Gee received All-District honors for his play. His top schools are Oregon, UCLA, and Northwestern State. When the football season is over, Gee likes to hang out with his family and play video games.
JaCereon Lathan
Minden High School
6-0, 170
Lee’s Scouting Report: “JaCereon Lathan is gifted as a hitter and does a really good job of reading the play. Lathan runs well and would make a big impact as a freshman in college.”
Bio: At all three levels of the defense, the Crimson Tide have a big time player that they can rely on. This time, in the secondary, that guy is JaCereon Lathan. In 2017, Lathan posted 42 tackles, three pass deflections, two fumble recoveries, and seven interceptions. As far as colleges are concerned, Lathan is considering Northwestern State, ULL, and Southern Miss. When the football season is over, Lathan likes to run track as well as going to the gym.
Jaylon Jones
Richwood High School
6-1, 180
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Jaylon Jones is a late bloomer that can run and has great size.”
Bio: Jaylon Jones is a player that can sneak up and really have a big time year in his senior year. Last season, Jones played a huge part in the Rams’ success when they were able to make it to the Dome for the Class 3A state championship game. In 2017, Jones had 52 tackles, two interceptions, and seven pass breakups. Some of the schools that Jones is considering are Southern Miss, Prairie View A&M, Grambling, Western Kentucky, Mississippi Valley, and Northeastern University in Oklahoma. When the football season is over, Jones likes to keep himself busy with activities such as running track, power lifting, and spending time with his younger siblings.
Tyler McGee
Evangel Christian Academy
6-0, 180
Lee’s Scouting Report: “2018 will be Tyler McGee’s first year to show everything now that three defensive backs have graduated and signed DI scholarships.”
FS:
L.T. Major
Franklin Parish High School
6-1, 210
Lee’s Scouting Report: “L.T. Major plays quarterback for the team, but I am projecting him as a free safety. He is a tough kid with big time frame. I think he would also make a great outside linebacker in college.”
Bio: Whenever L.T. Major is on the field for the Patriots, he is a big play waiting to happen. Over his career, all Major has done is put up impressive numbers especially his sophomore season in 2016 in which he threw for 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns while running for 715 more yards and 11 more touchdowns. Major will hope to have his best season yet in 2018. As of right now, Major has received one offer and that is from Grambling. However, he has been in communication with other schools such as Louisiana Tech, ULM, and Tulane.
Ty’Darian Quinney
Tioga High School
6-0, 175
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Ty’Darian Quinney is the type of kid that you can build a defense around. He is a special player as a free safety prospect.”
Bio: Ty’Darian Quinney is a Swiss Army knife as he does whatever it takes for his team to be successful. Quinney can be seen at a variety of different positions for the Indians including at free safety, kick returner, and even at quarterback. The All-District player has set some big goals for himself for the 2018 season including on the defensive side of the football. By the end of the season, Quinney hopes to have 80 tackles and four interceptions. His top schools are Air Force, ULM, and Southern.
SS:
Benny Davis
Richwood High School
5-10, 175
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Benny Davis is one of the hardest hitters in the state. Davis will make a great safety in college. He reads and can cover ground.”
Bio: Benny Davis, along with his counterpart Jaylon Jones, makes the Richwood secondary one of the best in North Louisiana. On a team full of big time playmakers, Davis was able to stand out with 65 tackles, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and seven interceptions. Davis’ top schools are Brown, Mississippi Valley, and Louisiana Tech. When the football season is over, Davis trades his cleats for his basketball shoes when basketball season comes around.
Shaun Todd
Jena High School
5-11, 175
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Shaun Todd is a really good athlete that is tough and can run. He has DI ability.”
Bio: Shaun Todd’s high school career has been really impressive ever since he has taken the field for the Giants. In his freshman year, Todd made 2nd Team All-District as a safety. In his sophomore year, Todd made 1st Team All-District as a safety and 2nd Team All-District as a punter. In his junior year, he made 1st Team All-District as a wide receiver and 1st Team All-State as a safety. When the football season is over, Todd likes to work on improving his game as a whole, but at the same time, he also wants to have fun. As of right now, Todd is undecided about what his top colleges are.
P:
Brian Barber
Calvary Baptist Academy
6-1, 180
Lee’s Scouting Report: “Brian Barber is a DI caliber player and has the best hang time arguably in the state. I saw Barber play as a freshman and thought that he was DI then.”
Bio: The stats back up Lee’s claim as Barber averages over 43 yards per punt with a long 74 yards. Over his great career, Barber has been a three time All-City selection and a two time All-State selection. Barber’s top schools are Louisiana Tech, LSU, and ULL. When the football season is over, Barber likes to hunt and going to lakes.
