Ellefsen looking for continued success for Mandeville Skippers

October 26, 2009 - Everett Ellefsen, senior Defensive End for Mandeville High School has been playing football since he was 7 years old. Coached by Guy Lecompte, this three year letterman is 6’3, 230 pounds, and runs a 4.76 forty.

Drawn to the game of football because of the contact and excitement, Ellefsen credits his coaches with teaching him technique and discipline. “Coach Penton, my defensive line coach, gave me the confidence to excel and know that I can play at the next level,” says Ellefsen.
 

Ellefson said his proudest moment so far, was last year when the Skippers played a shut out game against the favored St. Paul Wolves on the road.
 

“We’ve had a lot of success the past couple of years, and this year is challenging playing with a lot of inexperienced players.” Ellefsen says people may not realize all of the hard work and effort that is involved in preparing for each week.
 

Part of that effort includes early morning weight room sessions, daily field practice, and conditioning. During the off season, Ellefsen also kept up his training routine of running and heavy lifting, and attended several university camps and combines.
 

Ellefsen says, he wants to help his team the best way he can and is hoping to play in the post season for District 5-A.
 

Off the field Ellefsen enjoys playing basketball, watching LSU and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings.
 

Ellefsen is also a certified first responder, and plans to attend college after high school and play football.
