March 8, 2010 - New Head Football Coach Tommy Tuberville has two Louisiana natives coming back for his new team and three more, true freshmen from Louisiana in the fall. That’s a total of 5 Louisiana players, which is the highest number of Louisiana players in years and maybe ever on the Texas Tech team.

E.J. Celestie is a Red Shirt freshman returning from Barbe high school in Lake Charles, Louisiana. E.J was a big time player in high school at Barbe where he had several long big plays his junior and senior seasons. Celestie is now (5-11, 174) pounds and could be the fastest WR on the team running in the low 4.45 forty and he could run under that. I always thought watching this kid in high school several times, that he was the best athlete in the state of Louisiana for 2008. This kid I predict will be a star in the Big 12, because of not only his speed, but his quick bursts and moves and really good hands. This kid has a lot of talent and I’m shocked he wasn’t recruited more heavily by LSU in 2008. Texas Tech returns all three starters at Wide Receiver, but I believe this kid will play as much as a starter and could end up beating out one of the three returning Wide Receivers when it’s said and done. Celestie will be the go to guy in 2011 is my belief.
Brian Duncan has spent five years in Lubbock, all the way from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he played Linebacker at Tara High School. Brian was all of 215 pounds in high school, and now he’s 240 pounds and could be an NFL draft pick after the season as a MLB for the NFL. Brian started last year, and was one of the leading tacklers and will be again in 2010. Brian, who stands (6-1, 240), is a big time hitter and makes plays from sideline to sideline. He is basically the QB for the Tech defense. Brian is a special player, and I’m looking forward to watching him play another year in college.
