March 3, 2010 - Samford College will dress three Louisiana natives when fall starts up for 2010 season. One of the best players in all of IAA football is former Catholic HS of Baton Rouge Defensive Back, Thomas Brossard (junior), who’s a chiseled 6-0, 210 pounds, and is entering his third season as a starter for Samford College. Thomas had 51 total tackles in 2009; 42 of those where solo tackles. Thomas only weighed 185 pounds in high school, and it’s amazing what two years will do when a young man can fill out and mature. Thomas could have a NFL future by the time he’s done in 2011. Thomas can run in the 4.6 forty range, that’s pretty good considering he’s 210 pounds.
Linebacker Cody Pittman (5-11, 215) is a red shirt from Brother Martin HS, and could be on the two deep depth chart for the 2010 season. Cody was coached by his dad Jay Pittman who was the Head Coach when Cody played at Brother Martin HS.
Freshman Linebacker Austin Storms (5-11, 219) will also try to make
the two deep depth chart. Austin played high school ball at Mandeville HS.
Some Louisiana Notes
Tight End J .D Lott (6-2, 260) played football at LSU for two years but transferred to Samford. J.D has battled injuries but when healthy, he’s a key player for the offense. J.D is from Hoover, Alabama
Defensive Coordinator Bill D’Ottavio was the Tulane Cornerbacks coach from 2004 to 2006 seasons.
