Brad NelsonFebruary 19, 2010 - WR Brad Nelson (6-2, 185) from Catholic High School of Baton Rouge will be going to Nicholls State, in Thibodeaux, for this upcoming fall. Brad is a great route runner and has really good hands and very deceptive speed. On the field in pads he looks 4.5 forty, but was timed in the 4.6 forty range mostly by the big colleges. I really feel like the ULM, ULL, and LA Tech missed on this kid. New Head Coach Charlie Stubbs is getting a WR who would have red shirted at a ULM or a ULL, and I really believe would have started for those schools by 2011 season. Brad signed with Nicholls State a few weeks after signing day, and will play right away I predict for the Colonels. The ability to get open and catch passes will put this kid in the 2 deep right away.

Brad has the frame to weigh around 200 pounds easily as a WR for college. I really believe his speed will get down into the 4.5 range in college. Brad reminds me a of a kid a few years ago by the name of Brett Bech, who came out of Slidell HS, walked on to LSU, and started for 2 years after receiving a full scholarship later on. Bech a lso played for the New Orleans a few seasons as a free agent WR. I remember what got Bech in the NFL and on the field at LSU was his hands and route running. Brad will do the same things for Nicholls State, which needs tall WR’S who can get open and - key word - catch a football.
