August 8, 2011 - Not all of the top football players play at the better programs in Louisiana every year. You can’t overlook a kid because of a team’s success. Whether the team is good or bad, when it comes to recruiting you look for someone who can play the game.
That’s the case for Athlete D’Aaron Bennett, who stands 6-0 and weighs 205 pounds and plays several positions for his team at Pointe Coupee Central High School in New Roads, Louisiana. I was able to spot this kid in a couple of games I filmed in 2010, and I came away very impressed by his ability to run and give high effort every play. If his team had more size he could play his more natural position at Linebacker, but the team needs him as a Defensive End to give them a chance to succeed. I watched this kid play WR, TE, DB, DE last year, and he runs a 4.5 in the forty and reads and reacts very well.
I would not even rule out Free Safety because he carries his weight so well at 205, and his hips are still fluid when he runs at that weight being six foot tall. If the right team takes this kid in the end, he has a chance to be a pretty good football player for someone in college. I would put him either as a DI or IAA player depending on what type of season he has in 2011 to show off for the college coaches.
