| Jack Mervin |
July 22, 2011 - OT/DT Jack Mervin (6-5, 270) is a big kid that I saw in 2010 during his junior season, who really has room to grow. I was very impressed with his foot work and hand eye coordination that will make him a really good OG or OT in college. I can see Jack Mervin 6-6, 300 pounds, not in two years, but after one redshirt year. He needs just another year in the weight room to basically fill out. I look for Jack to go the offensive line in college and be an impact player. In the classroom, Jack has a 2.5 GPA and a 20 on his ACT.
I spoke with Jack Mervin recently about his top colleges choices, why he chose those colleges, and the offers he currently has from schools.
He said, “I've narrowed it down to about four schools that I am really confident in. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is my top choice because of the turnaround that they are doing there. Plus they have a great campus and facilities, and they offer petroleum engineering. ULM is my second choice because of the confidence in the program and coaches that they have there. I can really see myself playing there. McNeese has the best weight room and facilities in the south, and they have a great winning tradition over in Lake Charles with great coaches. North Texas has shown a lot of interest in me, and they have a pretty solid program. I will be taking a trip out to campus after this season.”
