Lee with ULL Head Coach Mark Hudspeth

March 18, 2011 - I had a chance to meet new UL Lafayette Ragin Cajuns Head Football Coach Mark Hudspeth, and I came away very impressed. This guy is full of energy and from talking to him he will recruit Louisiana like never before for the Cajuns.

Coach Hudspeth has that Nick Saban, Pete Carroll, Bob Stoops type personality where he will recruit 12 months a year and send letters four to five times to a recruit in a month span.

I know this is being done, because I’ve had recruits tell me they have received five letters in less than a month from ULL, and it impressed the parents of kids in Louisiana.  That’s the first time I’ve seen that in my sixteen years of covering ULL Football for the magazine.

ULL Player Update

All American Candidate Ladarius Green (6-6, 230 pounds) has made the transition to Tight End from WR. This kid has put on some really good muscle weight.  He’s now up 230 from 215 and might end up 240 by the start of fall. Green is a Pensacola native and has a chance with a good year as a senior in 2011 to get drafted high as a Tight End, because he has good speed for that position.

DT Cordian Hagans (6-5, 305 pounds) sat out in 2010 from LSU, and will vie for a starting position at one of the tackle spots for the Cajuns in 2011.  Hagans will be a Redshirt Junior and brings experience and size to an already deep Defensive Line.

FS Cooper Gerami (6-0, 205 pounds) sat out last year from Northwestern of the Big 10, and will probably start with a good spring. I enjoyed watching this kid play locally at St. Thomas More High School.
