February 22, 2011 - I had a chance to talk to current Assumption Head Coach Don Torres, who coached All State RB Brandon Jacobs when he was at Assumption and is now with the New York Giants, and also former All State 2,000 yards RB Brad Hill who played at Grambling.
This past year Assumption had two players not sign scholarships that are good enough to go play somewhere in 2011, weather it’s a Junior College or a IAA or DI school. One is WR/DB Theron Ester (6-2, 175) who can run a legit 4.55/40 and has great hands. When he fills out he will be in the 190 to 195 range. Then there’s CB Dennis Bougere (6-1, 165) who runs a 4.45/40 and only played one year of football. Dennis has a lot of speed and natural skills and once he learns the game will be a super player if someone gives him a chance at the next level. Remember these names because once upon a time there was a 6-4, 255 pound Running Back named Brandon Jacobs from Assumption High School, who did not sign DI or IAA, and went to a Junior College in Kansas and now is a big time player in the NFL .
Coach Torres loves these two kids and their upside, and I agree with coach from watching film on these kids.
