December 10, 2010 - I had a chance to talk to current Head Coach and former LSU ALL SEC DE/LB James GIllyard, who’s now currently the Head Coach at Hammond High School, about his top WR prospect Mark Bridgewater.
Mark finished the season with 43 catches, 1006 yards and 13 Touchdowns in 2010. I’ve seen this kid in two games on film and every time the team threw a fade pass in the corner of the end zone over the shoulder, this kid was money and went up every time and made it look easy. That’s one of the hardest passes to catch over the shoulder with a CB right in your face. I met Mark in the spring and he’s a very mature kid and you can tell he’s got a great future ahead of him.Mark stands 6-2 and weighs 185 pounds; a good looking and lean 185, which means could weigh 200 pounds easy in college. Mark carries a 3.0 GPA in the classroom, and also plays Two Guard on the Basketball team, which just started up. James Gillyard told me he’s been offered by Memphis, Arkansas State, and Weber State, but he has yet to take any visits. Coach also said, “I love Mark’s football IQ and instincts, and he’s really grown up a lot in the past year.” This kid is a big time sleeper for DI football.
