November 24, 2010 - You've probably read on many websites that Greg Robinson is one of the top Offensive Lineman, right? In this profile I will tell you why he’s that good and why he will be playing on Sundays for someone after college as an Offensive Guard or Offensive Tackle.
I may see kids who are 6-4 to 6-5 and have good feet every year (not many), but some that play Offensive Line in Louisiana. If you have good feet you will be recruited as a Offensive Lineman, but that doesn’t mean you’re a tough kid, it doesn’t mean you can pull in a game in high school, and it doesn’t mean you’re strong. In Greg Robinson’s case, he has all the above and then some to be big time in college.
I saw Greg as a junior, and he was a no brainer. He’s tall at 6-6, 290, with good feet. This year I see Greg and I see 6-6, 300, strong, mean and you can tell he now understands the position. This kid also pulls, and in three different games I’ve seen him crush kids that are 6-2, 260 or better pulling, and then taking on more linemen. I just watched a game against the very talented St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, and Greg had over 10 pancake blocks against a defensive line that averages over 250 pounds per man, ladies and gentlemen. This kid is the real deal. He benches a true 365 pounds, squats 550, and cleans 290. How many football players do you know that can throw the shot put 59 feet, and this year should hit over 60 feet. Greg has been timed before at 4.8 in the 40, and can run it all day at 5.0. He also throws the discus 144 feet, when he’s not throwing the shot put.
The State of Louisiana has four special Offensive Linemen. They are La’el Collins (6-5, 310) of Redemptorist, Corey White (6-4, 310) of Capitol, Trai Turner (6-3, 330) of St. Augustine, and Greg Robinson (6-6, 300). Three are committed to LSU, but Greg is down to LSU and Auburn. Robinson, like White and Collins, could play OT or OG in the SEC. That’s how good his feet are, and like the other three kids, he’s strong and mean. If LSU lands Robinson, they will have the best four home grown Offensive Lineman I’ve seen signed from Louisiana in one year in a long time. Greg to me is the strongest out of the four at this time. He can take down any player of any size with his upper body blocking, and I mean take down to the ground. I’ve seen him do it a lot this year.
