Demetris Belton

November 17, 2010 - I was able to catch a spring game between Calvary Baptist High School and Mansfield High School back in May of this year.  By the time the game was over I came away impressed by a kid named Demetris Belton, who not only played QB every snap that day, but also was the teams hard hitting Strong Safety on defense.

This kid to me was the most impressive Defensive player I saw on either team, and was a heck of a athlete as the QB. This was a hard hitting scrimmage, where Mansfield played basically the same 14 to 15 players and Belton never took a play off. I saw this kid hit people as a Safety like it’s done in DI big time football.

Belton stands a true 6-0 foot tall, and weighs 210 pounds of muscle, with explosion in his hips to come up and hit anyone in his way. I was very impressed how he would read and react as a DB and come up and lay the wood to anyone that afternoon in Shreveport.

Demetris has a 3.5 GPA and 18 on his ACT test, and get this; he squats 450 pounds, benches 245, and cleans 200.  This kid can also throw the Discus in track 129 feet.  Belton has missed some games this year because of injuries, but this is a kid to remember for college and maybe one day in the NFL.

His top colleges of his choice are LSU, Ole Miss, La Tech and Grambling.
