| Jamal Robinson |
November 15, 2010 - One of the best Wide Receivers in Louisiana that a lot of people know nothing about is the tall, rangy, and tough built Jamal Robinson of Salmen High School in Slidell, Louisiana. Jamal stands all of 6-3 and weighs in the 195 to 200 pound range. In 2009 Jamal caught 48 passes for 623 yards and 8 TDs. Remember this offense has Daniel Sams (6-3, 205), one of the top players in Louisiana, who gets the ball a lot, so these stats to me are really big time for a kid that’s the second choice in the offense in the passing game.
While watching this kid on film, what impresses me most is his ability to break tackles after the catch, and go up and get the football in traffic. He’s a strong kid for 195 to 200 pounds, and very hard to bring down. He’s got speed, though he is not a burner, but what I like is that he finds a way to the end zone most of the time. He looks faster in pads full speed than his hand time in the forty of 4.69.
I feel like he could be a great WR in college if he stays 200 pounds, or he could bulk up and be 230 to 240 and be a great TE, like DeAngelo Peterson of LSU who was 205 coming out of Desire Street Academy. Robinson reminds me a lot of Peterson from LSU, after seeing both play in high school many times.
In Basketball, Robinson averages in double figures most of his games and to show you why he’s so strong, he can Clean 275 in the weight room, which for a kid just 200 pounds and being a WR that’s impressive to me. His grades will be close overall, but he has the ACT test, he just needs to bring up his GPA some.
His top colleges are LSU, Texas, and TCU Horn Frogs.
