Brian Ensminger

November 12, 2010 - Brian Ensminger, QB for the Hahnville Tigers, comes from a strong bloodline of QB’s in his family.  His uncle Steve Ensminger was a QB at LSU from 1976 to 1979, the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles.  His Cousin Steven Ensminger, who is Steve’s son, is a senior QB for Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana. His dad Brian Ensminger, Sr. is a current coach on the offensive side of the ball for Hahnville High School.

Brian, like his dad, uncle, cousin and grandfather stands 6-2 to 6-3 in height, and weighs 210 pounds. Brian has a 3.7 GPA in the classroom and a 19 on his ACT. I think from watching Brian on film and in person, what sticks out to me is his ability to scramble out of the pocket with his feet, when the pocket breaks down. I feel like he’s very underrated as an athlete for his size.  Also, you can tell that Brian hasn’t hit his upside just yet with his arm. This is only his second year to fully start, and I feel like he will be a better college QB than a high school QB. Also, take this into account.  This kid plays in a district that is like the SEC of college football, where there’s tons of speed, size and great players.  Teams like Destrehan, Dutchtown, and East St. John, make you college ready in my book as a QB.

In the weight room, Brian can bench press 300 pounds, squat 400, and clean 250.  In 2009, as a first time full year starter Brian threw for 2,150 yards and 26 TDs, and also completed 65% percent of his passes on the season. Brian runs the forty yard Dash in 4.7 seconds, and looks every bit of that on the football field in full pads.

Currently, Brian is committed to the University of Stephen F. Austin, who is a part of the Southland Conference which plays in state schools, like Nicholls State, Northwestern, Southeastern, and McNeese State.  Former LSU offensive lineman Chris Truax recruits Louisiana for the school.
