October 15, 2010 - Lennon Creer rushed for a career-high 120 yards and two touchdowns behind preseason all-WAC OT Cudany Harmon (6'6 335 from Tyler,TX) and the Louisiana Tech defense dominated for all four quarters to lead the Bulldogs to a 24-6 win over Utah State Saturday afternoon before 16,073 fans at Joe Aillet Stadium. Tech rushed for 278 yards total on the ground. After the game Head coach Sonny Dykes said "I am really proud of our team. We feel like we are a better team than our record has indicated this season. We've kept working, and we have gotten better as the season progresses."
Utah State, which was coming off an impressive 31-16 win over BYU, would drop to (2- 4 0-2) while La Tech would improve to (2-4 1-1). Tech scored first when Ron Jenkins (20-32- 149-1TD,1 INT) hooked up with Tim Molton from 11 yards out to make it a 7-0 score with 4:53 to play in the first. Creer capped an 8 play, 62 yard drive that took only 2:14 off the clock to give Tech a 14-0 lead with 7:30 to play in the half. Peter Caldwell got USU on the board with a 40 yard field goal at the 3:37 mark of the half.
The Bulldogs were not done for the half as Matt Nelson with :38 seconds left, puts three on the board from 36 yards out giving Tech a 17-3 Halftime lead. In the third USU would put together a 9 play, 73 yard, and 4:02 drive, but would only score a 22 yard field goal from Caldwell to cut the Tech lead to 17-6 with 5:35 to play in the third. Tech would put the game away with 4:21 to play in the fourth as Creer would run in from 10 yards out making it 24-6. Next LA Tech host's Idaho, and Utah State has a bye week and then hosts Hawaii.
