September 28, 2010 - A big play third quarter powered Middle Tennessee state to an impressive 34-14 win over Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns.  MTSU(2-2,1-0) was playing without their starting quarterback (1^st team Preseason all Sunbelt ) Dwight Dasher, who served the last of his four game suspension.The Blue Raiders had four touchdowns, three of there drives took 0:47, 0:48 and 0:50 seconds.  Cajun's coach Rickey Bustle after the game said ”When we look at the film we will see a calamity of errors."  Bustle also added “There were times our defense looked as good as gold and other times,we gave up the big plays and we couldn't tackle."

Cajun's Quarterback Chris Masson(16-32-192-1 TD) passed to Javone Lawson for what looked to be a big play on the opening drive, but a fumble and a 38 yard return by Derrick Crumpton, lead to MTSU first ponts. Blue Raiders went up 3-0 with a 40 yard field goal by Alan Gendreau.

After only 3 points in the 1^st quarter, the second was a score fest.  MT went up 10-0 on a solid 14 play, 76 yard drive caped by D.D Kyles 8 yard touchdown run with 13:22 to play in the half.  The Cajuns would strike back going 10 plays, 70 yards,featuring a 20 yard run by Kevis Streeter, and a big 18 yard third down pass from Masson to Aaron Spikes.  Ladarius Green caped it off with a 5 yard Touchdown catch from Masson.  MT took only 4 plays to go 60 yards and took 0:47 seconds to go up 17-7 with Phillip Tanner going in from 26 yards untouched.   Late in second the Cajuns would only have to go 31 yards to cut the deflict 17-14, thanks to a big Interception by Dwight Bentley, returned to the MT 31.  Vernon Wolf caught a big 17 yard pass on third and nine to the 2 yard line and Blaine Gautier would go in from 2 yards out. Middle Tennessee added a field goal going into the half of 55 yards from Gendreau, which was the second longest in school history and going to the locker room up 20-14 on the Cajuns.

Middle Tennessee would apply the knock out blow on UL in the third quarter,first with a 0:48 Second drive caped with 3^rd and 10,62 yard touchdown from Logan Kilgore (21-36-207,1 TD,1 INT) to Malcolm Beyah, which were career longs for both players to make it 27-14 Blue Raiders. MT finshed off the scoring on a 74 yard touchdown rush by D.D Kyles (5 Rushes 90 Yards) on a 3 play, 81 yard 0:50 drive at the 1:02 mark of the third to go up 34-14 and that was the final from Cajun Field Saturday Night in Lafayette.  Next ULL (1-2,1-1 Sunbelt) play at North Texas.  MTSU (2-2,1-0) play host to Troy.
